Splinterglossary: Updated Surveying, Land, Castle, Keep And More

avatar

This is the weekly update on the progress of SplinterGlossary.

What Is SplinterGlossary?

SplinterGlossary is that section of LeoGlossary that defines a glossary of inter-linked terms and definitions for Splinterlands and other gaming terms. LeoGlossary is focused on financial, general crypto, but also including Hive and Leofinance terms and definitions, banking terms, insurance terms, and a series of specific lists.

Numbers of the Week

New definitions: 0

Additional updated definitions/lists/indexes: 10

Some Details

Tomorrow is LPUD and I'll also be away for the weekend, so I moved this weekly update on Splinterglossary ahead one day again.

This week I focused only on updates to bring more of our land definitions in accordance with the information provided in the Secret of Praetoria whitepaper.

By the way, I had a general "conversation" with our newest-found best friend or worst enemy ChatGPT to see if it could help me create these definitions. As I suspected, it would be too much "hand"-holding work on my part for that to happen, and the results may still be inaccurate.

The most problematic part - besides feeding it the information that comes from different sources, different formats, and both text and video (ChatGPT can't understand video, so that would need to be processed as text) - is that it wouldn't be able to reliably figure out if changes are made in time (like the changes in the names of the land rarities I updated last week) unless they are explicitly mentioned.

So, what have I updated this week?

Land was significantly updated since the existing definition was already outdated. More information was added with this occasion.

The same happened with Castle and Keep. I added the tax-collecting information from the whitepaper to both of them. These definitions are now close to 500 words each.

I also added the survey probabilities and guaranteed percentages to the land surveying definition.

The other definitions that were updated to a lesser degree are the following:

Plans for the Future

Focus on land will likely continue because there are more things to add/update. As always, Splinterlands weekly updates take precedence, or I will lose track of them.

Final Words

Remember that the success or not of this project depends a lot on the contribution of others. When you use terms defined in SplinterGlossary in your Splinterlands/gaming posts, it would be great if you'd link them to those definition posts.

Also, if you notice something wrong with any defined terms, please let me know in these weekly updates.

Yep, by using it, Splinterglossary has better chances to reach out more people and get picked by search engines too.

I started shopping around for land, so may decisions! I'm glad I waited now because I can actually choose what I'm getting.

No new terms but I think updating them is fine. I am still wondering if it's the right time to change them because there is still a lot of stuff that is unclear.

That is true, there are still unclear things. But I think it's better to have a more actual version of the information than the outdated one. Even if that's more work for me. But I do what I can over time.
