Weekly Battle Challenge (2) - Flying Squid 🦑

Flying Squid an interesting off-tank that I frequently use in my battles. The monster replaces the first liner the moment it is eliminated. What I like about Flying Squid is that is has a nice speed and 3 Melee Attack points that even make it a good option for battles that I want my rivals to miss their attacks to my first liner while I'm healing it with Merdaali Guardian!

In this battle, we will examine a level 1 Flying Squid and its benefits to my team set.As you can see, it is one of the most preferred rule sets in Splinterlands: No boundries!!!

I designed my team with a solid plan behind it. In my team, there were 3 melee attackers, 1 healer and 2 Ranged Attackers.

When we examine them in details, the first liner is DiemonShark because it is quite successful at dodging the attacks with 5 speed and it is equiped with nice armour. The other melee attackers were actively fighting as Flying Squid has reach ability and Deeplurker has opportunity to hunt the weakest one!

The ranged attackers, both, are equiped with a Sniper 😉 The reason why I used 2 snipers is to deal 2+2 ranged attacks to magic and ranged attackers of the rival. The moment Shiledbearer was eliminated, they hunted the backliners 🔥

Finally, I had Merdaali to heal DiemonShark and Flying Squid when they are in the first line. They both played perfectly well to deal damage and absorb some to protect the others.

Basically, (decreased) 1+1+2 Melee attack points + 4 Ranged (snipe) attack points and healer helped me win the battle.

The team has several Strong Sides that outperformed my rival.

For example, the shield coming from the summoner is strengthening the team in terms of having melee and ranged attacks with less critical hit. On the other hand, the team was fully focused on killing the major source of damage in my rival team. Opportunity + 2 Snipers did an amazing job.

1 high plus of my team was that DiemonShark and Flying Squid have high number of HP + Shield to survive for a long time.

When Flying Squid was the first liner, it was able to cover all the damage dealt by the rival monsters. Meanwhile, snipers + Deeplurker wiped them out! The balance of the team made it real!

The Weak Side of the team set was that there was no way to win against the rival if I was not able to eliminate Shieldbearer in the second round. When we examine the rival's team set, we see that 8 Ranged attack points + 2 Magic Attack Points + 4 Melee!

That's an unbearable amount damage that can help a team win the battle with less efforts. Luckily, I eliminated Shieldbearer to play my own game that was based on killing the backliners 😎

The result is victory. However, it was not an easy battle for me. The rival had a nice plan to kill my first liners in 3-4 rounds but the high speed and HP points were too good to prevent them from making it.

As I always support, balance of a team is crucially important. If I was focused on Melee attack, I would not win. If I had 4 ranged attackers or 3-4 magic attackers with 8-10 points, the rival would eliminate my team at a faster speed. Thus, balanced attack & defense was the best practice.

Even when my melee attackers were not alive, the healer in the last position helped my ranged attacker to survive while the other one deals huge damage each round. We did it thanks to using our attributes wisely 🐉
