Weekly Battle Challenge (2) - Mycelic Slipspawn

Here we are with a brand new weekly battla challenge. The previous Mycelic Slipspawn battle was based on Earth vs Earth team sets. In this battle, we will see how you can use Taunt of Mycelic Slipspawn and eliminate healing + opportunity Water teams!

Splinterlands Earth.png

Most of the time, Water teams have better protection against Earth monsters as they have void + opportunity + healing in common. However, what if I say Slipspawn can counter Water!

Before we go, do not forget to rent crazy strong Splinterlands monsters in the rental market. Trust me, they bring you more!

If you are not convinced yet, check out this battle 🔥

Team Set Up.png

First of all, I want to examine the team set up my rival closely. It is one of the most popular strategies used by Splinterlands players. In the first position, use a monster who can dodge the attacks and heal the monster. However, there is more in this team set:

2 Opportunity Attackers ☠️

These two can easily hunt your all monsters in 2 rounds. YET, if you have a Slipspawn with Taunt, they can do nothing serious to your team 😉

I had a strong Earth team set with some little tricky monsters. First of all, I had a strong tank, which I rented for cheap, to take the serious damage in the first line. Also, I had 1 opportunity attackers against fragile but effective backliners in my rival.

There is more for my rival, I used sneak ability and magic together via
Goblin Sorcerer!

Check what happened at the end of the first round.

Mycelic Slipspawn got 6 HP and Warlord got 3 HP attacks but the rival lost their tank which was in the center of battle strategy! Also, the rival monsters with opportunity attack could not deal any damage to my backliners.

3+2 magic attack to the tank ✅
2 magic attack via sneak ✅

These are more than enough to eliminate the whole team 🙃

Strengths Weaknessses.png

Taunt is an exceptional ability. It protects the whole backliners with a strong HP monster. However, this monster is always the first one to die because it is the one who is in the target of all your rivals.

However, check out the screnshoot below and tell me what you see in the comments section. I can see that Slipspawn protected the whole team and when it was eliminated with an opportunity attack, there were no serious rival monsters that may wipe your monsters out.

Rest in Peace Slipspawn, you were amazing 🍀

I think the strongest side of my team was that this time the team set was ready to go against 5 different types of element teams with the balanced set up. Strong tank, Taunt, 7 Magic attack, 5 melee attack! They were great attributes of my team.

image.png

The only disadvantage that I had was the lack of ranged attackers. In the case when the rivals have silence and void abilities, my total damage would decrease drastically. Also, using Taunt is a perfect advantage but if the rival monsters have Blast!!! ability, then it turns into a nightmare.

Risky but worthy to be honest 🔥
Other than that, I'm proud my team set up. That was a hard battle to win.

The Battle Results.png
Not sure if you enjoyed the battle but I'm delighted with the stages of thee battle and the result of it.

The rivals monsters could not show up because of the abilities that my monsters were equiped. Sneak + Magic; Taunt and Magic Reflect were the major strategies that I used for Earth team. If you are a newbie, these are the greatest attributes of Earth monsters and do not hesitate to use against other elemets, as well. 😉

At the end of the battle, my tank had 6 HP! Thank you Mycelic Slipspawn 🤩

Watch the battle and make your suggestions for my team set. Should I use Slipspawn in the first position?
