Weekly Battle Challenge (2) - VENARI SPELLSMITH

Venari SpellSmith is an interesting monster that may directly affect your battle with its unique features. First of all, it is pretty useful Neutral Magic Attacker! As you know, neutral monsters are designed a bit disadvantaged compared to the same mana elemental monsters.

In some battles, SpellSmith is used for its Dispell ability that can eliminate the addional buff for the rival monsters and other times it is preferred for the magic ability that may be the strategy of the team.

I used SpellSmith against a Fire team (which is vulnerable to magic attack) and got great return!

Here are the details:

Team Set Up.png

I had a team that was protected with armour coming from Arnak and I knew that my rival would choose to play fire as s/he did in the last battles.

Fire means danger but also opportunity if you can manage it 😉

My team consisted of 3 Melee attackers (1 Tank, 1 Assassin with Opportunity Ability and 1 to protect my non-melee monsters). The magic attackers were Pixie and SpellSmith that were protected well in the middle. Finally, Merdaali Guardian was healing the tank to let it survive.

Under many conditions, this team set up can work well unless the fire team has lvl 5-6 monssters to be more advantageous.

Snipe and Opportunity attacks were targeting my magic attackers and it was too dangerous as they were the key monsters of the set up. Without magic attack, Lava is too hard to eliminate!

Luckily, Spy was wiped out but Venari SpellSmith resisted to 3 Snipe attacks. Meanwhile, StoneFish in the last line was doing a perfect job to save my non-melee monsters from sneak abilities.

Look at the yellow square on the screenshot. The destiny of battle was written over there. Pixie and SmellSmith did an amazing job and ended the tyranny of Lava. Yet, SmellSmith was eliminated at the end of the third round, as well.

Until that moment, it prevented Lava to get a possible buff and decreased the HP of Lava gradually!

Strengths Weaknessses.png

The strongest side of my team was knowledge. I knew that my rival will use Fire once again. So, I only had to set my team accordingly.

I got armour to my monsters, strengthened the last line with a melee monster (Stonefish, 1 mana) and I was ready to eliminate the tank with 2 magic attack points + Opportunity attacker.

When the team is based on 2 solid tactics, then it is likely to win the battle easily. At that point, Venari SmellSmith is pretty functional IMHO!

Magic 🤝 Well-protection = WIN!

There were some weaknesses of my team, as well. The rival's monsters did not focus on a single target, rather, they scattered the power to 3 monsters at the same time.

Assuming that all monsters target my source of magic power, Pixie and SpellSmith, it would be catastrophic. On the other hand, my team set was based on a common fire set up. Any tank with void ability would destroy my strategy, as well.

We can criticize the set up as fragile and narrow-scoped to great extent. Yet, it was pretty affective 😉

VICTORY ✌️

My strategy was pretty simple but highly useful.

  • Eliminate the tank with Shield ability
  • Hunt the assasins of the rival
  • Protect the magic attackers.

These were sweet tactics that helped me get the battle.
I think it was an interesting Splinterlands battle for the lovers. Let's test your limits 😎

Watch the battle and tell me the points that I missed. How would you counter my team set up in this battle?

It's time to Sign Up and challenge me, as well! Waiting for some harsh rivals 🔥
