Weekly Battle Challenge - FLYING SQUID

Flying Squid is one of the useful second line tanks that is preferred by thousands of Splinterlands gamers. The reason why people love Flying Squid is its Reach ability and useful stats.

The monster has 3 Speed + 2 Melee Attack and 8 HP in the first level. Also, it is a common monster that is sold for cheap prices that you can buy many NFTs and combine them to grow your Flying Squid

At level 3, it becomes an incredible second liner that is ready to be an off-tank for your battles.

3 Melee Attack Points, 3 Speed, 8 Health and it only takes a couple cents to advance this giant squid!

I love this guy 🔥

Team Set Up.png

You might be surprised as I did not have a magic attack in my team set. The reason why I did not use a magic attack is the expectation of offensive magic game by my rival. Thus, I designed my game to a defense well while attacking the first liner.

The Summoner of my team was Bortus as it decreases the magic attack of my rival 1 point! Knowing that the defenders of my rival are not going to be strong tanks, I decided to use DiemonShark with Trample Ability!

The Trample Ability wiped them out easily! Meanwhile 2 Melee attack was provided by Flying Squid as the source of damage for the teamset. In the end, my defensive team had 2+2 Melee attack & Healing via Merdaali Guardian!

It is a good defensive team set that can be applied against Earth Magicians! They have low magic attack points but they can be harmful if you do not defend well.

Strengths Weaknessses.png

I realized that my rival will use Earth team set against me looking at previous battles s/he had. Thus, Bortus was a good option to be chosen to decrease the number of magic attack points to be received by Diemonshark.

Strength of my team was that: as DiemonShark has 7 HP and Merdaali can heal each round, 1+1+1 magic attack did not affect the well-being of my tank. Also, the other monsters could not penetrate 6 Shield that my tank has.

Meanwhile, both Squid and DiemonShark were focused on the first liner to eliminate. When Trample was triggered, DiemonShark dealt 2 attacks in a row!

Less damage received + more HP healed helped my team win the match in 5 rounds at all!

My team also had some weaknesses against some dangerous monsters that I might have seen!

For example, although Flying Squid was in a good shape in terms of threats on it, Merdaali Guardian was open to attack of sneaky melee attackers. Assuming that any attacker with sneak ability, 2 rounds would be enough to eliminate Merdaali, so does healing per round.

In a case that I cannot heal my DiemonShark, it would be easy to eliminate DiemonShark if it cannot use its 6 armor points effectively.

The biggest threat of my rival was also the focus of magic attack against my team. If I did not choose to reduce the magic attack by them, 2+2+2 magic attacks would eliminate DiemonShark in 2 rounds; Flying Squid in 3 rounds easily!

The Battle Results.png
I wanted to focus my 2+2 melee attacks to the tank of my rival in the first line. As it was a defensive game, I knew that it would take 5-8 rounds but in the end my team will be victory.

Healing via Merdaali, asistance of Flying Squid and Trample ability of my DiemonShark were enough to find an inner-balance for my team.

Slowly but firmly, the directed attacks + healing helped us win the battle! However, we also had some weak sides as I mentioned above 😉

Watch the battle and share your opinions with us. I think you have some suggestions for me to go against a magic team with 24 mana battles!
