Weekly Battle Challenge - Hill Giant

This week we are going to talk about an amazing monster in Earth Element: Hill Giant. I believe everyone loves this big boy because it has direct impact on the destiny of the battle. With its high HP and low mana nature, I think it is one of the favorite monsters that is used as the major tank of the teams.

Let's learn about the giant and see how I use the monster in the battle:

Hill Giant is pretty useful, especially in low mana battles. Starting from level 1, it has 6 HP that can be good to have for a tank and it only consumes 3 mana! It means that you can set a wild team while Giant is dealing with the damage.

Even though this big boy is a bit slow (1 Speed) and it has just 1 Melee attack point, it enables Summoners to set up a team with some surprisees to the rival. Let's see how I use this guy!

It was a Standard & 30 Mana Cao battle in which I decided to have some surprises to my rival 😉

I did not use Hill Giant in the first position. Rather, I used it in the second position and sacraficed my Morphoid to get the initial damage from the rival monsters.

The reason why I did is that Giant has 6 HP and I have a healer (Psychic) in my team. If I manage to keep the giant alive, it will be able to heal itself while securing the rest of the team. Thus, I had to sacrifice my Morphoid.

As you can see in the team set, I used a magic team that is based on dealing deeadlious magic attack to the enemy team. I had 1+1 Melee and 2+2+3+3 Magic attack that awaited the rival monsters.

As the rival team did not have any ability to reduce or block magic attack, all my team needed was to stay alive and do what they do always 😎

10 points of Magic attack + healed Hill Giant made it pretty easy for my team to win against my rival. At that point, Hill Giant shared the damage taken from the rival team with Slipspawn to make sure that the rest of the team can securely wipe the rivals out!

And we made it 🔥

Strentghts of my team were obvious:

I secured the Hill Giant by holding in the second position in the first round. Then, the attack points were shared with Slpspawn and Hill Giant was healed to stay strong!

The focused magic attack is insane. Since the rival team did not have any ability or monster for that, I was able to eliminate each monster one by one. 10 Magic attack points and 2 solid tanks were more than enough 😉

Of course my team had some weak sides as well. For example, if the rival team had ability to reflect magic attack and/or reduce the magic damage, then my team would be in trouble! The mere focus on any type of attack is dangerous in Splinterlands.

Also, Blast attack points were another threat on my team as they can reach other monsters that are quite vulnarable and fragile! I was lucky to handle these problems in my modest team set.

As a result of the battle, I won it. It is not surpsing to see that magic teams are outperforming during the battle. To be able to deal with such surprising team sets, it is always safer to have a look at the battle history of the rival and have at least 1 monster to go against magic teams.
