Weekly Battle Challenge - PELACOR ARBALEST

This week we are going to talk about an amazing ranged attacker that can deal damage 2 times in a row! Arbalest is equipped with 2 bows that can really hit your monsters hard 😉

Let's talk about how to use it effectively.

As you can clearly see, from the very beginning levels, it is a trouble maker ☠️ Deals 2 ranged attack for 2 times = 4 Ranged attack per round and if it is used with General Sloan, then it turns into 3x2 = 6 ranged attack per round for 6 mana! That's crazy!

Yet, you also should care about the 2 HP that it has. So, basically, keep it alive and win the battle with less burden 😉 I have some tips for you to use it effectively:

  • Use low mana monsters ( 0, 1 or 2 Mana monsters) wisely for the sake of Arbalest
  • Use Taunt ability of your tanks properly
  • Find a good position for Arbalest to wipe the rivals out!

Team Set Up.png

I had a nice team set up which was based on securing the ranged attackers (essentially Arbalest) and deal damage to the rival with Melee + Ranged Attack!

First of all, I used Gargoya Scrapper in the first position rather than second one because I wanted to use its 2 HP + 1 melee attack before Shieldbearer with Taunt was targetted by every rival including the first liner. As my rival did not start with monsters that can deal damage, I had an advantage over there.

Each turn 1 Melee Attack from Gargoya and 2 Ranged Attack from Herbalist and 3x2 Ranged attack from Arbalest made it to 9 Damage per round! If I had used Shieldbearer in the first position, it would be 10 but I needed his defensive side more rather than dealing damage!

My rival team had 2 great Sneaky monsters that would have wiped out Arbalest in the first round if I would not secure it with the other monsters. In this battle, Arbalest was in a good shape as I used Taunt ability for the sake of it. Also, the rival did not focus on instant damage and the slow sneak attacks could not deal with my 9 damage per round 🔥

Basically, I was good at using 21 Mana for both offensive and defensive purposes. In any type of battle, 9 damage would be more than enough to destroy the rivals' deck but the point is securing your team appropriately.

I had the balance of using the ranged attackers that cannot resist serious damage in a safer position and the way I used Taunt and Low mana melee attacker were perfect!

Even when Shieldbearer was about to die, the threat on my ranged attackers was just Sha-Vi that can deal damage once per round. so, the rival was not good at adjusting the late game functionalities as I was able to handle.

In the end, repairing armor and double sneaky melee attackers did not affect my team set up!

Though everything seems pretty smooth, I had 2 serious concerns about my team set up.
1- If my monsters had missed their attacks to RiftWing and Chaos Agent in the beginning, it would be catastrophic for my set up. Missing a whole round might have made me lose the battle.

2- Though my both melee attackers battled flawlessly, I had 2 ranged attackers with only 2 HP. In the case that Sha-Vi could stay in the backline, its first attack would kill Arbalest if the taunt was eliminated and the rival had another first liner!

Luckily, nothing surprising happened without what I planned before the battle.

The Battle Results.png

I won the battle against a rival who had an interesting team set up that was based on sneaky attack, dodge and repairment of armor. My team set up was a perfect counter of his/her strategy.

When Arbalest is used effectively, it is quite likely to win the battle against strong rivals, either. How do you use your Arbalest in the battles?

Watch the battle and tell me what to do more for my Life team with Ranged focus?
