Weekly Battle Challenge - Portal Spinner

Portal Spinner is an interesting Ranged Attacker with some unique features. The monster has a scattershot ability that enables it to attack one of the monsters in the rival's team randomly. So, it may surprise both you and your rival with the random attacks 😅

In addition to scattershot, the ranged attacker as 1 armor point that help it protect itself from 1 deadlious damage coming from the sneak, opportunity or snipe attack of other ranged attackers. Thanks to the armour, you can use the monster in the last line, as well.

The monster has 2 ranged attack points, 2 speed, 1 armour and 3 HP in the first level. Even for the Bronze league battles, it can be pretty functional. For example, if rival uses sneak a lot, Portal Spinner can be the last liner and you can repair the armour with another monster to decrese the seriousness of the attacks easily!

Let's see how I used Portal Spinner in a Life team:

It was a Life vs Life battle with different focused strategies.

In my team, I used Chaos Knight as the tank of the team. It works pretty fine against the monsters that are not magic attackers.

In the second position, I had Herbalist to get Snipe, Opportunity and Blast attacks to protect Pelacor Arbalest from the damage. As Arbalest has Double Strike and strong ranged attacks, it was one of the key monsters. Finally, I used Portal Spinner in the last position to get Sneak attack to its armor and stand at least 2-3 rounds with harsh attacks.

The team had a strong Ranged focus against the rival.
The Summoner General Sloan provided +1 Ranged attack points.

In the end, 2 Melee Attack points & 2 + (3+3) + 3 Ranged Attack points made it to 13 attack points per round! That's a great sum to eliminate several monsters with severe damage.

When the battle started, scattershot of Portal Spinner eliminated the rival's Herbalist with 1 single shot. Then, Snipe attack of the rival did the same thing to my Herbalist.

The aim was to wipe the tank of the rival out as the rest of the team was too fragile.

My team had several strong sides that helped me win the battle.

First of all, there is a good correlation between the monsters and the summoner. +1 Ranged attack to 3 monsters made it to 11 Ranged attack points per round! That's huge.

The aimed attacks from my monsters were unberable. When the tank of the rival could not resist the attacks, it was too easy for my team to get the rest of the attackers.

As my tank was good against ranged and melee attackers, it was a solid warrior! Meanwhile Doublestrike and Scattershot did the rest to eliminate all of the other monsters.

There were some weaknesses of my team as well.

When Herbalists in both teams were killed, the Arbalest (deals 6 ranged attack points each round) was the target of opportunity and snipe attacks. Luckily, the tank of the rival team could not resist to the damage and wiped out easily. Yet, the death of Arbalest would be terrible for the sake of team.

In this team set, using Portal Spinner in the 2nd position would take the snipe attacks on 1 armour + 2 times HP. So, the other ranged attacks could be in a safer position.

I was able to win the battle thanks to well-organized team strategy and some luck. Life element has several strong Ranged attackers that can affect the result of the battle directly.
