Weekly Battle Challenge - Venari SpellSmith

In this battle, we will examine how to use Venari SpellSmith in your team sets and how to take precautions by using Dispel ability. To be honest, Dispel is the most underrated skill of the game it might be because people do not clearly understand the effects of Dispel ability on the battle field.

I sometimes use this skill in my team set ups as any extra positive effect on my rival's strong tank may spoil all my strategy. When the skill is wisely used, you have a great advantage against your rival.

WHY?

Dispel is designed to spoil the strategy of your enemy. Rather than providing direct assistance to your monsters in the battlefield, it weakens your rival's key monsters and make it easier for your team to deal with them.

Just because it is hard to assess what will provide Dispel with Venari SpellSmith, many people do not use this crazy useful card!

Starting from level 1, you can use the monster in your team sets.
1 Magic Attack point
Just 4 Mana
Prevents the rival's tank to get stronger!
Good match with Death, Life and Earth teams in most cases (Eliminating armour, extra attack power or Speed)

Let's see how I used Venari SpellSmith:

Team Set Up.png

First of all, it was not an easy battle for both sides. Too strong and functional monsters, several parameters to win...
In this battle, I decided to play a counter attack team that is based on defensive but focused attacks.

I had Bone Golem with Void (against Magic attackers).
Targeted the last liner with Sneak and the magic attackers with snipe abilities. I placed Carrion Shade in the last line though it is a meelee attacker! My aim was to secure 2 important monsters: Soul Strangler with 2 Ranged Attack Points + Venari SpellSmith with Dispel!

image.png

The use of sneak and snipe provided me chance to postpone the focus on Unicorn, dangerously beatiful off-tank!

Soul Strangler helped my tank that deals damage 3 Melee damage to the tank. So, 3 Melee + 2 Ranged focus was not bad! For Venari SpellSmith, it was not possible to deal damage to Unicorn as it had Void, as well. However, the aim of having and protecting SpellSmith was not to deal +1 Magic; to prevent Unicorn be stronger!

If my rival used Queen Mycelia, I would lose in 3-4 rounds! It would be nearly impossible to eliminate the backliners + tank with extra armour 😶

With Dispel, I eliminated this risk and 3 Melee + 2 Ranged worked very well while the backliners were hunted as expected!

image.png

Silent Sha-Vi did its best and eliminated 2 monsters. Meanwhile, Bone Golem was resisting to all these focused attacks! Thanks to Void, it survived for a while but Unicorn was merciless.

What happens when the tanks die?

Time to assess the strength of Magic Attackers and Ranged ones.

At that point, I understood the importance of having balanced team set up once again. As I had magic attackers that can deal damage in the first position, I could keep attacking. Otherwise, with only ranged guys, it would not be a GG for me 😅

SpellSmith + Elemental saved the day ✌🏼

Strengths Weaknessses.png

I had a great team that was intentionally set to counter my rival.
Void against Magic
Dispel by SpellSmith against extra armour
Sneak and Snipe against backliners.
Well-balanced team consisting of 3 types of attack!

When we combine all these strong sides, I made it! However, there are some things that are problematic in the set up as well.

image.png

For 6 rounds, Carrion Shade had not contribution to my team! Even though I placed it to protect my fragile but crucial monsters, I knew that my rival did not have a focus on the last liners with Magic-based set up.

It was a huge mistake.

If the monster were in the second line, then it might have taken 2 damage on itself to help the fragile ones survive safely. Other than that, I countered any threat on my team successfully.

The Battle Results.png
It was an exciting but also stressfull battle. Through the end of the battle, I was about to lose my hope as I made a mistake with the position of one of my melee attackers and the rival was fearless.

Void + Sneak + Dispel made it real to great extent!
Nice battle imho, tell me what you think after watching it.

Watch the battle (you will not regret 😉) and exchange your ideas with me . Did I have some other weaknesses?
