Good morning Splinters! And thank you @splinterlands for this amazing opportunity that you gave us by creating this #playtoearn #NFT game.
In my country, the Philippines, we always put fun in everything regardless how life throws challenges at us. This game has brought hope, like the hope lottery is giving us, a chance to start a better life - when you do win.
Some of the people in our local splinterlands group will share their stories of LUCK through the facebook group Splinterlands Ph. One guy posted a gold foil DJINN OSHANNUS. A lot of the people started asking the guy's rituals; what he ate?, took a bath?. And all sorts of funny stuffs, like did he hit the chest on a specific part or with a few fingers or one.
By definition of a Roman Philosopher Seneca. "Luck is what happens when opportunity meets preparation". It came to me when the developers nerfed the Daily Quest Potion. I was prepared to pay $0.75 daily just to increase the chances of getting valuable NFTs. At that time the value of a chest is around $0.60 ー $0.80. For me, this means the value of what I will put in compared to the risk is no to very little since I'm planning to play this game long term.
Only a few would see it as an opportunity because it wasn't so obvious. Nerfing the quest potion means expensive. It is true. But I contemplated on it a bit and thought that a lot of people will not buy the potions anymore. To me, this is my chance. Less people buying it would mean an increase in my LUCK! In my mind, hundreds/thousands of people not getting the daily potion means the same hundreds/thousands mutiplied by 5 is a lot of chest taken out of the equation. The odds that I get a valuable NFT will increase.
Lucky enough, DEC was selling $0.00560137,(9/12/2021 7:00AM Manila Time). I did a quick toilet paper math:
22 quest potions is $84.21
Least value from 110 chest is $66.
Risk ratio is 21.62% of 15000 DEC I earned from loot chest since August 22.
After 5 days(9/17/2021), I struck gold!!! I got a Gold Foil DJINN OSHANNUS of my own. This is the most valuable NFT I got from the chest as of date.
Luck is very important in all aspects of life. This game does require a certain amount of it.
Increase your luck by being prepared. Calculate the odds and assess your risk. If its a risk you are willing to take, then go take it!

I had a mistake thinking the summary part at the bottom of the article will show up at the bottom but it didn't. I tried editing a couple of times but nothing happens when I hit update.
