Social Media Challenge - Brawl Report 16: The Battle in Tier 2 Starts

Social Media Challenge

This will be my 16th brawl report with KingsHaven and somethings have changed this time round. For once we are fighting in tier 2 instead of tier 1 now so opponents would be on another level...

Secondly, I am fighting in Bronze level battles instead of Novice level battles. Another level of difficulty jump for me...

Each battle are also given some random rulesets and mana so we have to quickly decide on what units to use and where to place them on the fly. Details of these rulesets descriptions can be found here.

There were 8 battles for me in this brawl and below are the results:

Battle 1 - Ruleset Spreading Fury (17 Mana): WON

battle 1.jpg

Spreading Fury ruleset with only 17 Mana, I have a feeling the opponent would chose Water which is also what I wanted to chose. I took a while wondering what the opponent would put up. I have little doubt the opponent has whatever gladiators I would have so I assume the opponent would put up Vorst which I intend to as well.

For Vorst to work well, the opponent must not be using Disintegrator. Since this is only a 17 mana match, there is a good chance the opponent wouldn't be using any Disintegrator. The other thing I also deliberately do was not put up any small units. That probably is what won me the match as the opponent has a few small units that ultimately fed my Vorst. Was a good start especially against someone in a guild that is ranked number 2 in Splinterlands.

Battle 2 - Rulesets Healed Out + Odd Ones Out (32 Mana) - LOST

battle 2.jpg

My opponent has a way superior lineup than mine in this battle. A level 2 gladiator, a reviver and a tank with void armor. Very solid lineup. Completely crushed me. The only thing correct I put in my lineup is the void armored tank, Alvar while the rest of the lineup wasn't of much effectiveness. Need to remember to use the opponent lineup as reference for future battles.

Battle 3 - Rulesets Super Sneak + Explosive Weaponry (23 Mana): LOST

battle 3.jpg

The desire to go with the gladiator Gobson was a wrong move as this is a Explosive Weaponry ruleset so speed and magic attack are of much more important here than bloodlust and double strike.

Battle 4 - Ruleset Lost Magic (20 Mana): WON

battle 4.jpg

I thought I had a pretty good simple setup here. I put DiemonShark as a tank and the gladiator Vorst as the main attacker while putting a Scavo Halfling as the shield repairer. With this setup, I expected Vorst to grow in power if the opponent put up any small units.

Worked like a charm!

Battle 5 - Rulesets Explosive Weaponry + Lost Legendaries (46 Mana): LOST

battle 5.jpg

I went with Water as it is Explosive Weaponry ruleset. Not surprisingly the opponent also went with Water. Again you can see why Vorst is not effective when the opponent put out a Disintegrator thereby reducing its attack to just 1. Cleaver is obviously the better gladiator here.

Next time I will probably use Cleaver for higher mana matches.

Battle 6 - Rulesets Fog of War + Keep Your Distance (15 Mana): WON

battle 6.jpg

15 Mana matches with no Melee units really gives me few choices. I went with Water in the end with a high HP tank with taunt and a healer at the back. It worked amazingly well. Again a very simple setup.

Battle 7 - No Rule (27 Mana): LOST

battle 7.jpg

The opponent has Quora Towershead and use her as the tank. Even in hindsight I can think of no setup to beat this monster... This has became a very bad brawl...

Battle 8 - Rulesets Equal Opportunity + Explosive Weaponry (32 Mana): LOST

battle 8.jpg

Explosive Weaponry so I go for Water as usual. Unfortunately I forgot to cater for Equal Opportunity and put up some dumb setup with a weak unit in the center. Ended up losing the battle.

3 Wins out of 8 battles. Not a good result at all! I am not use to the new tier whereby every opponent is now expected to have gladiator units. No idea how I would do in the next brawl now.

But the guild still somehow manage to clutch 3rd and the 1600 merit reward we earned is much better than what we earn topping tier 1!

We are probably going to try a few more times in tier 2 to see if we can continue to get better amount of merit than tier 1. If we can continue getting above 1200 merits reward, it would means it is okay to fight in tier 2.

Dear @genming, sorry to jump in a bit off topic but may I ask you to support the HiveSQL proposal?
It lost its funding recently and your help would be much appreciated to keep the HiveSQL service free for the Hive community.
You can do it on Peakd, Ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.

Thank you for your support!

Hi arcange, I already upvoted your proposal a while ago. If I click again it would be removing vote. :P
