As you probably already know the Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge involves showcasing a battle involving a particular ruleset which is different every week. The ruleset we are to talk about this week is Little League.
Let us see what this ruleset does before we get into the nitty-gritty of the line-up and the battle itself.
The Little League ruleset is pretty straight-forward - Only Monsters and summoners with a mana cost of 4 or less may be used.

Now that we've got a good idea of what the Little League ruleset practically does, let's see now how it can be effectively utilized.

I normally describe a couple of options here if it ruleset allows for some variation but this one in particular is pretty clear, so here's in short:
I have listed one Summoner from every Element and the Monsters from that Element I use most often when the Little League ruleset is active. Of course I generally mix in some neutral Monsters as well or just straight up use Quix (most often) and then make a combination of one of the Elements + Dragon + Neutrals. Generally the most successful Element for this ruleset is definitely Water, then I would say it's a tie among Life/Earth and Death. While I have not listed them since they are dual-summoners, the RB 3-mana Summoners are also very useful in this situation, of course. Generally the other rulesets also play a major role on the way you construct your line-up, so you've got to pay a lot of attention to that as well.

Now that we know what the card does (or doesn't do) at the different levels of play, let us have a look at the battle I have chosen to showcase.

- The line-up of the Battle and the Ruleset:

The ruleset for this battle is just Little League (Only Monsters and summoners with a mana cost of 4 or less may be used). The mana budget is 25 which more than enough for Little League since even if you get 6 4-mana Monsters, the max amount you will need is 24. All Elements are available but Fire. I'll of course go with the Dragon Element.

The 1st spot is for Solance Ashinach. This is card which was introduced with the release of the RB set. I like playing him every now and this, especially if I think that my enemy will use more Ranged and/or Magic attackers. Of course, he does not have the self-sustain of the Xenith Monk but does pretty good if backed up with a good support Monster. He has 4 abilities - Return Fire (When hit with a Ranged attack, Units with Return Fire will return half the damage (rounded up) to their attacker), Magic Reflect (When hit with a Magic damage, does half the Magic damage (rounded up) back to the attacker), Reflection Shield (This Monster doesn't take damage from Blast, Magic Reflect, Thorns, or Return fire) and Redemption (When this Monster dies, it does 1 damage to all enemy Monsters).

The 2nd spot goes to the Dhampir Infiltrator. It is actually a pretty good Sneak Monster at max level. In addition to Sneak (Targets the last Monster on the enemy Team instead of the first Monster), it has Double Strike (Monster attacks twice each round), Cripple and Affliction (when a Monster with Affliction hits a target, it has a chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed). It can definitely cause a lot of damage to the enemy backline, especially if it has other Sneak Monsters to work together with.

3rd in the line-up is one of my favorite Sneak Monsters - Uraeus. For its mana cost of 3 mana it definitely packs a pretty good punch with its 3 Melee Attack. What makes it even better is that it also has the Poison (Attacks have a chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied) ability. Poison is actually pretty good for battles against Monsters with larger health pools as it needs more rounds to do work but it will get it done eventually.

The 4th spot is reserved for the Pelacor Bandit. I've put it here since it has a decent amount of speed so it can dodge a hit or two if the enemy has decided to go through the "backdoor" and gets to it. Generally it's a Flying (has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability) Monster with a high amount of speed. It is also a Sneak (targets the last Monster on the enemy Team instead of the first Monster) Monster so it can often be a pain in the enemy backline.

Following immediately after is Vruz. While Vruz could be useful at the Bronze level in some instances, the level which he really becomes useful at is in the Silver league range - level 5, where he gets his Martyr ability (When this Monster dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats). I currently have him at level 8 but he gains his last ability - True Strike (this Monster's attacks cannot miss) at level 10. He is a pretty cool little card for sure and can be very important in the line-up if played correctly.

Last but definitely not least is the best Monster in the Chaos Legion set and one of the best Monsters in the game as a whole, that's right, I am talking about Doctor Blight. I could write pages upon pages of praise for this Monster of a Monster but I'll keep it short and just list its tool kit in order of appearance - Affliction (when a unit with Affliction hits a target, it has a chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed), Camouflage (this unit cannot be targeted for attacks unless it's in the first position), Poison (attacks have a chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied), Scavenger (gains 1 max health each time any unit dies), Weaken (reduces the health of all enemy units). All this for the cost of 4 Mana, which also makes it a perfect candidate for the Little League ruleset. You can basically use it on any occasion and not make a mistake if you have the space in your line-up for it.

It is time for a quick round by round analysis:
- The Summoner I am going with for the battle is, as you have probably already guessed - Quix. He is my usual go-to Summoner for Little League since I like to mix my Sneak Monsters a bit and I find the Water/Dragon <4 mana mix to work the best more often than not. My enemy has decided to go with Kelya, which is another Summoner which is great for the ruleset. They have a lot more support than me. Let's see how this goes.

- After 1 round of exchanging blows, I have managed to take down the enemy Angelic Mandarin, which is great news as it was the enemy Monster with Triage.

- Round 3 begins and I have lost my Main Tank as well as the Dhampir Infiltrator while the enemy has lost their Kulu Swimhunter.

- Round 4 - the round begins without my Uraues and the enemy Merdaali Guardian.

- Round 5 - finally my Dr. Blight will manage to take out the enemy Tide Biter. Not the easiest victory for sure.

Well this was definitely a fast but fun battle, and an entertaining way to showcase the Little League ruleset. See you next week with another exciting post related to the brand new Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge!
