A new week, a new Share Your Battle Challenge. This time we will get to revisit the Life Splinter and its denizens. I really enjoy playing the Life Splinter even though a lot of people would say that it is not that great at least as far as its Chaos Legion version goes because they find General Sloan a bit weak compared to the rest of the rare CL Summoners. However, I do think playing Life is pretty fun and now that we have Rathe in Life's arsenal, it has definitely gotten a lot better. But enough about the Splinter, let's talk about our protagonist this week - the Pelacor Arbalest. It is definitely one of my favorite and most played Life Splinter Monsters. It can totally devastate the whole enemy team by itself (especially when supported by General Sloan) if the enemy Monsters fail to get to it in time.

Now before we get into the stats discussion of the Arbalest, let's have a sneak peek into its LORE.

It seems like the Pelacor Arbalests are a truly important part of the "Army of Life", especially since they have the advantage of being able to fly. What's worse for the enemy than a sharpshooter? - A flying sharpshooter obviously. 😁

Alright, we've got some idea of what an Pelacor Arbalest is, after glancing at its lore. Let us have a look at its stats and abilities at different key levels now.

image.png

  • The Pelacor Arbalest is a Rare Monster. At level 1 it has 2 Ranged Attack, 2 Speed, 0 Armor and 2 Health but most importantly it starts off with the Double Strike (Monster attacks twice each round) ability. This is its signature ability and it is what makes this Monster totally worth its mana cost of 6.
  • At level 4 (max for Silver) it has gained an additional point in Speed for a total of 3 and 2 additional Health points which make it slightly more resilient but it still has to be very well protected in order for it to be able to do its thing.
  • At level 5 (entry Gold level) it gains its second signature ability, mentioned in its lore section - Flying. Flying increases its dodge chance against non-flying Monsters by 25% (which is pretty huge) and also makes it invulnerable to the Earthquake ruleset, which is very important as well.
  • Finally, maxed out at level 8 it has 3 attack, 3 speed, and 5 health. This means that it does at least 6 damage per turn but with the help of General Sloan, for instance, it can inflict as much as 8 damage per turn which is pretty big. The fact that is is in two strikes and not one give the Arbalest an advantage against abilities such as Forcefield.

Now that we know what the card does (or doesn't do) at the different levels of play, let us have a look at the battle I have chosen to showcase.

<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>BATTLE<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>

  • The line-up of the Battle and the Ruleset:

image.png

The ruleset for this battle are Armored Up (Monsters get +2 added to their armor stat) and Holy Protection (All monsters get the Divine Shield ability. The first time the Monster takes damage from a monster it is ignored). The mana budget is 36 which is a bit higher than average but definitely does not allow for the player to choose whatever they want so some planning has to go into line-up. The available Splinters are: Fire, Earth, Life and Dragon. I have chosen to go with the Life Splinter even though I could have showcased our protagonist using Dragon as well. It might come as a surprise but I have decided to use my level 3 Rathe for this battle instead of my level 6 Sloan because I feel I might get magic spammed and Rathe is definitely the way to go in such cases.

I have chosen to go with my level 2 Uriel as the main tank. I like it a lot due to its considerable armor amount and self-heal. The armor is especially useful when paired with Rathe, and makes me feel more confident that it can withstand a bit of a beating involving magic damage. Its other upside is that it has the Flying ability so that makes it 25% harder to hit (by ranged and melee attacks) which also could be huge.

image.png

image.png

Following immediately after Uriel is the Celestial Harpy. My thinking here is that if I happen to lose Uriel prematurely the evasiveness of the Harpy can still buy my team some time to regroup by protecting the backline.

The 3rd place in the line-up goes to the Time Mage. It is a Caster which is basically a must-have in most situations since at this current level it not only has Slow (which is one of the most important abilities in the game imho) but it also has Rust (reduced the armor of all enemy Monsters).

image.png

image.png

The 4th spot is for Adelade Brightwing. This is another Monster I basically constantly use when using Rathe due to its ability to repair amor, paired with its ability to Resurrect a fallen ally (once per battle) which is also huge if the right friendly Monster gets to be revived. It also has Flying which is also really helpful as already mentioned.

5th in the line-up is our protagonist - the Pelacor Arbalest. I have it in this spot since I feel I will be receiving a lot more damage from the front rather than the enemy going heavy on Sneak Monsters. I could, of course, be wrong in my judgement but even if I am, at level 6 it has a decent amount of health, as well as Flying. It also has +1 Armor from Rathe so it can take a couple of hits.

image.png

image.png

Last but definitely not least is Soul Fiend. I have it in this position with the sole purpose to protect the Pelacor Arbalest from Sneak attacks as long as possible, or in this case 3 hits - one for the divine shield, 1 for the armor and 1 for its health value.

It is time for a quick round by round analysis:

  • The Summoner I am going with for the battle (as you might have already mentioned) is Rathe. The battle itself is in Diamond 3 but I actually do not have any Monsters at the Diamond/Champ level which does not necessarily mean that I am doomed as there are a lot of gold-level accounts lurking in Diamond 3 at the end of the Season. My opponent has decided to go with a level 3 Quix, so they are also limited to the gold-level versions of their Monsters. Playing against Quix is unfortunate for our friend - the Pelacor Arbalest as Quix nerfs its damage but we will have to somehow get over this disadvantage.

image.png

  • After 1 round of exchanging blows nothing has changed on the battlefield apart from the enemy Pelacor Conjurer being a bit closer to death. I have to note that the fact that the Chaos Dragon is level 1 (no splash damage) is a huge advantage for me. Thank you dear opponent for not leveling it up.

image.png

  • Round 3 begins with the obvious fact that the Pelacor Conjurer has fallen and a Void Dragon has taken its place in the main tank position for the enemy.

image.png

  • Round 4 is upon as and we come to the realization that no Monsters have lost their lives in Round 3. The Void Dragon is a very elusive Monster - hard to hit for all types of attacks, plus it also takes reduced damage from Magic attacks so that delays its demise even further.

image.png

  • Round 5 is here and the Void Dragon is finally no more. Next in line is the Chaos Dragon. My Uriel is still holding front line, doing a great job at that with the help of Adelaide.

image.png

  • Round 6 - nothing has changed on the battlefield apart from the Chaos Dragon taking a some damage.

image.png

  • Round 7 has arrived and two things can be observed as far as what has happened in Round 6 - Uriel has obviously died and has been revived since it is at 1 health but 9 armor, and the enemy Chaos Dragon is basically dead at 1 health remaining in the beginning of the round.

image.png

  • Round 8 is here and the Chaos Dragon is expectedly no more. I am definitely winning this battle. What is left for me is to finish clearing the enemy side of the battlefield.

image.png

  • Round 9 - the Naga Assassin is the last Monster standing for the enemy but that will not last for too long. A flawless (with 1 resurrect) victory for the Life Splinter.

image.png

The Pelacor Arbalest is a great Ranged Attacker for the Life Splinter. It can singlehandedly solve a battle in its favor if the setup for it is right which makes it a very important Monster which has to always be placed and protected with caution. The Pelacor Arbalest is currently valued at $0.23 per BCX, which is actually a fair price for such a potent Rare Monster. I would definitely include it in my must-buy list if I did not have it already.
