The community challenge this week is to showcase a battle with one of the new promo cards. That's actually quite easily achievable even if you do not own any of the new promo cards, by finding someone to do ghostcard challenges with. If you have not tried them out yet, be sure to do so. I already had a few battles available to choose from due to the fact that we did some sparring with Bjangles (from the People's Guild) as we wanted to test the soon to be released promos - Delya and Night Stalker. I've decided to pick one of the Delya battles.
Delya is definitely a pivotal character for the story of Splinterlands, as you can tell by the short lore excerpt included in-game. A true freedom fighter..
The rulesets for this battle are Stampede (Trample will retrigger infinitely as long as the trampling unit keeps killing other units), Fog of War (all Monsters lose the Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity abilities) and Close Range (Monsters with ranged attacks are allowed to attack in the first position). The mana budget is 52 which is significantly above average. Four Splinters are available - Fire, Life, Earth and Dragon. I have decided to go wit the Earth/Life Splinters for this one due to the particular Summoner I have chosen.

The Silverblade Fighter is a Rare Monster. At level 1 he has 1 Melee Attack, 3 Speed, 6 Armor and 5 Health and he starts off with Flank (At the beginning of battle, if this Unit is in the first position, the unit in the second position gains Reach) ability which is his signature one. It is, of course, really, really useful if you want to put a Melee Monster without Reach in the off-tank spot. At level 2 he gains a 2nd ability - Void Armor (Magic attacks hit this Monster's armor before its Health) and 1 Health Point for a total of 6. At level 6 he gains his third at final ability - Protect (All friendly Monsters gain +2 Armor). Finally, maxed out at level 8 he has 3 Melee Attack, 4 Speed, 7 Armor and 6 Health.

The off-tank for the line-up is Mantoroth. He's a pretty beefy boy with 4 Armor and 11 Health at the cost of 11 Mana which makes him susceptible to Giant Killer (does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana). He also has 3 Melee Attack and 2 Speed. In terms of abilities - at max level he has the following ones (in order of appearance): - Shield (reduced damage from Melee and Ranged attacks), ARMORED STRIKE (Any unit with this ability gains an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using its Armor stat. This allows characters to improvise with deadly force, using their gauntlets, shields, helmets, or perhaps physical attributes (spikes, hard shells, etc) as weapons!), True Strike (this Monster's attacks cannot miss), Repair (restores some armor to the friendly Monster whose armor has taken the most damage) , Blast (does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster). He is definitely shaping up to be a pretty interesting card, especially with the New Ability - Armored Strike and the fact that he is a Neutral Card, so he can be included in any Element.

Following immediately after the Mantaroth is our protagonist this week - Delya. I've got her so she can get buffed by the Monster following her and also potentially take advantage of her Dodge + Backfire abilities in case she ends up having to take the tank spot.

In the 4th spot I have Iziar. She has definitely been one of the my favorite Soulbound Legendaries, and even though Martyr (when this Monster dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats) does not really pair that well with Reverse Speed, I think having a beefy Taunt (all enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to) Monster such as her in this battle will allow me to let Jared Scar do his thing. Iziar also has Void (reduced damage from Magic attacks) which is great for Magic attack mitigation.

5th in the line-up is one of the Rebellion airdrops and the Grim Bardun Smith killer (and all no-attack Monsters in general). She has a new ability - Charge (The Monsters will use Melee Attacks from any position and will target the Enemy Monsters in the first position). Bear in mind that just as other abilities, it is affected by Taunt, so that's one way to keep your GBS, Bakjeera, etc. safe. Her other abilities are Piercing (If Melee or Ranged attack damage is in excess of the target's Armor, the remainder will damage the target's Health), Oppress (Does double damage when attacking an enemy that has no attacks) and Trample (When a Monster with Trample hits and kills its target, it will perform another attack on the next Monster on the enemy Team) (at level 4). She can single-handedly wipe the whole Enemy team in certain situations.

Last in the line-up I have added another newly released promo card - Elanor Bravefoot. She's very unique in the way she can take advantage of any other Monsters of the "Fiend" category through the ability only she has - Blasphemy of Uul (permanently gains +1 ranged power for each allied card named Fiend). She also has an additional ability at level 4 - Strengthen (all friendly Monsters have their Health increased by 1) and a Debilitation - Weary (each round, Weary Monsters have a 10% chance to become Exhausted. This chance increases by 10% every round, up to a maximum of 80%)

It is time for a quick round by round analysis:
- The Summoner I am going with for this battle (as you might have guessed) is Eternal Tofu. It's one of the most often played Summoners right now due to the fact that it's pretty powerful. It provides Thorns, +2 Health and Snare to all friendly Monsters. Bjangles, on the other hand, has decided to pivot away from the Tofu spam and try to surprise me by picking a Ranged Attackers heavy team headed by Risquel Drath. It's an unorthodox move since the Squirrel is usually most often used when the Earthquake ruleset is in play due to the fact that it provides the Flying ability to all friendly Monsters.

- After 1 round I have managed to take down the enemy Grim Bardun Smith while my Mantaroth has been taking heavy damage due to the fact that it's been give Taunt by Risquel, and the enemy team are all attack it, ignoring my Iziar for the time being.

- At the start of round 3, all that is left for my team is to finish off the remainder of the enemy forces, even though I have lost both my Mantaroth and Iziar, so Bjangles did manage to do significant damage to the two Monsters with Taunt during R2.

Delya is a pretty good Ranged Attacker, however, I don't really think she's worthy of the hefty price tag she will be sold for in about 10 days of 50,000 DEC or 50,000 Credits. That puts her at the same level as the top meta cards in the game, and I truly think she is not up to that standard. Nevertheless, she's still a pretty cool addition to the Neutral Element, so if you feel like she's worth the money, getting a max copy could definitely pay off in some situations.
