This week in Splinterlands...

There was also Town Hall this week so there's a bit more in terms of SPL news out there, so let's start with the stuff worth mentioning starting from the End of Season. Here's what I got on the 3 accounts I have.
The end of the 30th season of the new rewards system has come and the 15th full season of the new Soul Bound Reward Cards set (43 cards). Here's what I got from my 48 Champion chests (Expected Value: $8.299 --> Actual Value: $3.81):
  • 216 Alchemy Potions;
  • 345 Legendary Potions;
  • 87.98 SPS;
  • a total of 102 cards - 2 Legendaries; 5 Epics; 0 Summoners; 1 GF Common;
  • 2,763 merits;
  • 2 packs;
Well these were my 13th ever EOS Champion chests and these were probably one of the worst chests I've gotten both in terms of $ value and actual number of cards. Well, to be honest, I did get 2 Legendaries so that's better than nothing.

The fun part about that is that these 2 copies helped me get my first Max SB Reward card - behold its glorious visage:

I have earned less chests but, since I am back to 100% self-play across 2 of my 3 accounts, I am pleased with the amount I got as a whole. I got destroyed by Battle Helpers in Champion the last few days - thank God the new TOS updates are coming next Tuesday. Here's the summary for the whole season - 70 Champion Chests and 75 Diamond Chests (total value: $10.40):
  • 5 packs;
  • 277.7719 SPS;
  • 245 - 2 Legendaries; 10 Epics; 7 Summoners; 7 GF Commons;
  • 5,639 Merits;
  • 469 Alchemy Potions;
  • 530 Legendary Potions;
  • 667.03 SPS from Battles; (EV: $10.94)
This time I got a total of 5 packs and a lot less SPS than last season but that's normal since it's all reliant on the will of the RNG Gods. I am about $9 under the EV of the chests themselves and I got significantly less cards this season, I hope I will be more lucky in SPS terms next season. I have to mention that I am also currently renting 150,000 SPS @ 5250 DEC per week, so I am now incurring additional costs to compete in Diamond/Champion.

image.png

Let's see how the new system treats the poor ol'ex-Bronze players or in this case my poor ex-Bronze now more-so Silver/Gold-farming alt account.😁 Here's the breakdown of the screenshot containing 34 Gold Chests (EV: $1.49 -> AV: $1.94):
  • 26 Alchemy Potions;
  • 13 Legendary Potions
  • 46.62 SPS;
  • a total of 41 cards; 2 Summoners; 1 GF Summoner;
  • 56 Merits;
  • 1 pack;

image.png

The AV of the chests this time in absolute terms is better than last season. This time it's $1.94 thanks to the pack I got. Unfortunately I could not get into Gold as the BH pressure felt too high in Silver I as well, so I will be earning Silver EOS chests next season.

Let's have a look at my total earnings for the whole season on this account for 38 Gold and 105 Silver chests for a total of $2.58.

  • 84.78 SPS;
  • 100 cards - 1 Legendary; 1 Epic; 2 Summoners; 1 GF Summoner; 2 GF Commons;
  • 782 Merits;
  • 65 Legendary potions;
  • 66 Alchemy potions;
  • 239.40 SPS from Battles (AV: $3.94)
  • 1 Pack;
Again the EV for this amount of chests is $2.33 so I'm a bit over the EV and I think as a whole I've received a decent amount of cards so I am happy with what I got.

image.png

Last but as of recent not really least, my 2nd alt, who is residing in Silver and now with a jump into Gold since it's playing in Wild with Xbot. Here's the breakdown of the screenshot containing 41 Gold Chests (EV: $1.80 -> AV: $0.35):
  • 9 Legendary Potions;
  • 42 Alchemy Potions;
  • 21.35 SPS;
  • a total of 36 cards - nothing worth mentioning in terms of quality
  • 760 Merits;
Rome wasn't built in a day. Getting stuff from Silver and some Gold chests is definitely a long process until you get somewhere but persistence is key for sure.

image.png

Let's have a look at my total earnings for the whole season on this account for 144 Silver chests and 41 Gold Chests for a total of $0.69.

  • 41.56 SPS;
  • 135 cards - 2 Epics; 7 Summoners; 1 GF Rare;
  • 1,244 Merits;
  • 35 Legendary potions;
  • 68 Alchemy potions;
  • 67.17 SPS from Battles (AV: $1.11)

The EV for this amount of chests is $2.70 and my AV is $0.69. I could definitely have had a better luck but it is what it is.
The most exciting that has happened this week is that we finally got the Sea Wreck airdropped after the maintenance on Tuesday. We had to wait for a few days since they will always do the airdrops after Tuesday's maintenance going forward - no more waiting for Cryptomancer to push the big red button. I had 761 packs which guaranteed I would get at least 3 copies of Sea Wreck. Let's see what I got:

image.png

Yup, exactly as expected I did not have any luck and got exactly what I "deserved". Well there are two more airdrops and I'm planning to get 110 more RW packs so I am guaranteed at least 3 drops of each of those as well cause it seems that if I don't guarantee them, I won't get them...
Since we're on the topic of Sea Wreck anyway, let's remind everyone who might not be aware what Sea Wreck is:
image.png
As you can see it is a Monster which is considered a "Giant" since it costs 11 Mana. At level 1 it starts with Blood Lust and Return Fire. While Blood Lust is cool and often OP, I think it interferes a bit with the most appropriate use of the Sea Wreck, which would be battles with the Reverse Speed ruleset given the fact that the Monster has 1 Speed. At level 2, Spell Reflect is added to its arsenal and make Sea Wreck even more imposing to all types of Ranged Attackers. At level 3 it also gains "Heal" so that gives it a bit of sustain since it will surely need it being such a large target. Finally at level 4 it gains Amplify so if the Ranged Attackers somehow could survive up to now, now Amplifies guarantees they would face a bitter end. I really like the card in general, however, it is definitely not OP since it does not really have that much sustain - it does not have Void, Void Armor, or Shield, so while it will inflict a lot of pain to its attackers, it will also take the full amount of their damage, and that could be enough to get it down quickly, even before it manages to get one Heal off. Moreover, as I've mentioned in the begging, being a Giant makes it vulnerable to all Monsters with the Giant Killer ability so that could definitely "wreck" the Sea Wreck.

Another thing I want to note is that there are 1 new (in addition to the other 8 I showcased in previous posts) really cool post regarding the different Splinters of Splinterlands. Be sure to check it out, it is a really quick read:

I definitely love the banner arts - really cool and distinctive.

And now for a quick recap of the Town Hall. It started with a short discussion with Investygator reagarding this week's maintenance. There wasn't anything particularly interesting but here's a summary of the planned fixes (source: Town Hall Summary post):

  • General Updates

The timer on additional energy purchases now resets at midnight UTC, the same time that the daily focus ends.

Rolling a new Daily Focus will no longer reset your focus points, as the timer no longer resets after the change where all players focuses end at midnight UTC.

Cleaned up some text that had underlying links on our various e-mails that was causing some browsers to flag them as suspicious.

  • Items Hotfixed into the Game Prior to the Release

Nothing this week.

The most important news which came out of the TH was Weirdbeard's showcase of how land works in practice, he did a thorough walk-through of most functions and it is definitely 100% worth checking out if you are planning to "play" the land "game".

Here is the relevant part - I've linked it starting at the 12th minute of the video:

Well this is it for now - yet another week in the world of Splinterlands is upon us. Play More, Bot Less! <3
