DJINN CHWALA

Continuing with this Dragon Week, I'm going to talk about one of the first Dragon monsters I got, and honestly one of my favorites, and I'm talking about Djinn Chwala. This is an Epic Dragon card, from the latest Reward set, which means that you can get it doing your daily quest!

Lore

3 line Yellow.png

Dawn of the Djinn 4 of 4 - Only a short time after the Djinn were released, most of them were already seeing their elemental captivity as a blessing rather than a curse. They had far greater power than before, now that they were working with the force of the Planet at their backs. Pursuit of power was at the core of Belludae beliefs, so most of them would make small sacrifices for greater power.

The Djinn have not all found one another, and it will be difficult for them to do so since many of them reside in different elements. This is why several of the Djinn have submitted themselves as cards in the Moxian games, so they can connect with their lost brethren. Gradually they will come together to Praetoria as part of the last lines of defense, channeling the power of the Planet into an impenetrable wall to hold back the Chaos Legion.

Stats

At level 1, it has 2 melee, 2 speed, 5 armor, and 9 health, which makes it a great physical tank. But that's not all. It also has Thorns, meaning that if an enemy deals melee damage to Chwala, it also receives damage.

At max level it also has Enrage, being faster and stronger when not at full health, and True Strike, making it impossible to miss its attacks. So, once it's damaged, it's even scarier.

Battle

Here I'll show you a battle using Djinn Chwala, and a strategy that can be useful. I'll describe it as best as I can, but nothing beats the feeling of actually watching the battle, so in this link you'll be able to watch the battle yourself.

Ruleset

  • Heavy Hitters: All monsters have the Knock Out ability, but since there are very few monsters with Stun in silver, this ruleset is irrelevant.
  • Allowed Splitners: Fire, Water, Death and Dragon.

Team
3 line Yellow.png

Because of the allowed Splinters, I decided to go for Chwala, since they are mostly melee focused. For this, I used the Dragon Splinter and combined it with Water, since it's my favorite deck.

CardDescription
DRAKE OF ARNAK

With +1 armor, it protects all my monsters from melee or ranged attacks that the enemy may throw at me.
DJINN CHWALA

My main tank. Whenever Chwala is attacked by a melee monster, the aggressor will also be damaged. My mission is for Chwala to live as long as possible to deal a lot of damage.
DISINTEGRATOR

With Demoralize, it lowers the enemy's melee attack. Since I'm hoping for a lot of melee attacks against Chwala, this could lead to the enemy taking more damage than they deal.
MERDAALI GUARDIAN

A non attacking monster. With Tank Heal, she'll cure Chwala when not in full health. As I said, I want Chwala to live as long as possible.
ICE PIXIE

Honestly, I just chose her since I had 2 mana left. However, she's a good card for her mana cost, with 1 magic damage. She also has nice speed and Flying, meaning that she can avoid some attacks.
SCAVO HIRELING

Another support card. It has Repair, which is similar to Tank Heal. This'll restore some armor for the monster that took the most damage. In this case, I hope the Hireling will target Chwala as well.
AXEMASTER

Apart from Chwala, this is my main damage dealer. With Double Strike, it attacks twice each round. If you saw my Vigilator battle challenge, you know how great this ability is.

ROUND 1
3 line Yellow.png

  • As I was hoping, my opponent went for a mostly melee team, so the Disintegrator's ability kicks in, lowering the enemy's melee.
  • To start the battle, the Diemonshark lands a weakened attack at Chwala, dealing only 1 damage to its armor, while taking 2 damage.
  • Axemaster attacks twice and almost destroys the Diemonshark's armor.
  • The Flying Squid attacks Chwala, but it follows the same fate as the Diemonshark.
  • The Scavo Hireling restores Chwala's armor, leaving it intact.

Nothing much happens this round, apart from some monsters' armor being destroyed.

ROUND 2
3 line Yellow.png

image.png

  • The Diemonshark and Flying Squid once again take damage from attacking Chwala.
  • Axemaster and Ice Pixie defeat the Diemonshark, depriving the enemy of its main tank.
  • The Deeplurker and Sniping Narwhal defeat my Merdaali Guardian. So, no more heals for me.
  • Scavo once again fully restores Chwala's armor.

This was a great round for me. Even though we both lost a monster, Merdaali wasn't doing much, since Chwala hasn't taken a single point of health damage. However, defeating the Diemonshark is great, and soon the rest of the team will follow.

ROUND 3
3 line Yellow.png

image.png

  • Axemaster leaves the Squid with only 2 health with its attack. And then the Squid faints while attacking Chwala, thanks to Thorns.
  • The Sniping Narwhal defeats my Ice Pixie.

Another trade of monsters, however, the enemy is running out of tanks.

ROUND 4
3 line Yellow.png

image.png

  • Axemaster defeats the Deeplurker, leaving the enemy with only 1 attacking monster, in the Sniping Narwhal.
  • Chwala destroys the enemy Merdaali's armor.

ROUND 5
3 line Yellow.png

image.png

  • Axemaster defeats the Merdaali, which means the Sniping Narwhal can no longer attack.

With no more enemy attacks, in the next round, the Narwhal is easily defeated. And once the Stonefish is in the first position, it is quickly defeated as well.

Final Thoughts
3 line Yellow.png

  • The combination of Chwala and Disintegrator is deadly when the enemy focuses on melee, with them often taking more damage than they deal.
  • While she wasn't of much use, Merdaali is a great support card, as is the Scavo Hireling, allowing the tank to survive longer.
  • Axemaster is just incredible. No words about it. He's the only card I'm renting from this battle, but I want to make sure to buy it soon since he's a great addition to all battles.

Finally, I know Dragon Week is already over, but it took me a little while to make this post. If you notice, the formatting is different. I think it's a little cleaner, and the different sections can be distinguished easily. Tell me in the comments if you like this change in style or if you'd like to see something different! I'm open to advice.

Also, I want to thank @rqr4 for making the dividers I used in this post. I just found them and I really like them. You can find them here.
