Weekly Battle Challenge - BRIGHTON BLOOM

BRIGHTON BLOOM

For this battle challenge, we're tasked to talk about Dragons! Even though at first Dragons might not seem that important, once you get further into the game, you'll realize how important Dragon cards are.

As for the specific card I chose to talk about, it's none other than Brighton Bloom, my favorite Dragon Summoner. He's a rare summoner from the Dice set, and I think he's a must-have for every player, thanks to his ability, which I'll discuss in more detail later.

Lore

Brighton was an eccentric young man of Shimmer City, the capital of Khymeria. He was always seen as a strange character among the Khymian summoners. His fellow summoners were put off by the way birds always landed on his hands and shoulders. After just two years studying at the Shimmer summoning school, Brighton decided to leave Khymeria.

The Gloridax cared for Brighton’s skills as a summoner. Furthermore, in Gloridax eyes, oneness with birds has long been considered a sign of divinity. Brighton’s attraction to birds was quickly noticed and he was assigned a team of aerial sorcerers to properly train him. When Brighton emerged from that training, he could grant the power of flight to any monster under his summoning control.

Stats

After reading the Lore, you can suspect what ability this summoner will have. Indubitably he gives Flying to every allied monster. This ability has 2 advantages. First, it increases the chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks, and second, it prevents the monster from taking damage from Earthquake. This is what makes him a must when you have the Earthquake ruleset.

Apart from that, being a Dragon summoner, he can be paired with any other splinter. Meaning that, for example, by pairing him with the Fire splinter, you can use both Dragon and Fire cards!

The Battle

The Ruleset

  • Earthquake: Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.
  • Broken Arrows: Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles.
  • Allowed Splitners: Fire, Earth, Death and Dragon.

The Team

For this battle, since it was an Earthquake battle and Dragon was available I knew I had to use Brighton. As for the Splinter to pair him with, I chose the Earth splinter, since it has good Magic monsters.

CardDescription
BRIGHTON BLOOM

As stated before, he's a must have for every Earthquake battle, thanks to his Flying ability.
DJINN CHWALA

Chwala is a great tank and that's why I put it in the first position. It has Thorns, dealing damage to evvery monster that attacks it with melee damage.
URAEUS

A great monster with Sneak. He's able to attack the last monster on the enemy team. Since a lot of the time, the cards in the back have less health, this ability is great.
GOBLIN PSYCHIC

One of the new Chaos Legion cards! He deals a solid 2 magic damage, while also healing my tank every turn!
SCAVO HIRELING

This little guy is my favorite Neutral monster from Chaos Legion. He has repair, which restores some armor to the monster that has taken the most damage. With him, Chwala's armor can take a few more hits, dealing more damage to the enemy.
REGAL PERYTON

With 5 speed and Flying, this majestic deer has up to 65% chance to dodge an attack. This is the reason I positioned him in the final position, to hopefully avoid Sneak attacks.

ROUND 1

The enemy Goblin Shaman weakens my team, reducing all of their health. The Serpentine Spy tries to defeat Uraeus, but thanks to its shield, it doesn't take any damage. However, Peryton isn't that lucky, being defeated by the Sneak monsters.

Then, the Goblin Psychic and Scavo Hireling heal and repair Chwala.

ROUND 2

Earthquake deals 2 damage to each of the enemy's monsters, defeating the Serpentine Spy in the process and weakening the rest. This shows how useful is Brighton, since mine didn't suffered the same fate.

Then, their Sneak attackers defeat my Goblin Shaman, leaving me only with 2 monsters, against 4. This doesn't look good.

ROUND 3

Once again, the Earthquake hits my opponent, weakening it once more. This leaves the Serpent of the Flame and Tenyii Striker with 2 health each, and Fineas Rage with 4.

After that, the Serpent attacks Chwala, receiving 2 damage from its thorns, and dying. Then Fineas also takes damage from the thorns, before being finished off by Chwala.

Finally, Tenyii Striker attacks Chwala as well, also being defeated by its thorns.

Other Recommended Cards

CardDescription
DJINN OSHANNUS

With 5 speed and Flying, Oshannus can become a great dodge tank. And not even Magic attacks are exempt from this, since he can dodge those as well thanks to his Phase ability.
SERPENT OF ELD

While being vulnerable to magic attacks, paired with Brighton it has up to 80% dodge chance at level 1! Very few monsters can accomplish this.
NAGA ASSASSIN

As you've noticed, speed is the biggest factor here. This assassin has up to 85% chance to dodge at max level and thanks to Backfire, she deals 2 damage to every enemy that misses their attack on her.

Final Thoughts

The stars of this battle were definitely Brighton Bloom and Djinn Chwala. Thanks to Brighton, while the enemy team was heavily weakened, mine avoided the Earthquake. This gave me an edge in battle, since I didn't have to deal as much damage, only withstand it while the natural causes defeated the enemy.

As for Chwala, it was great since the enemy decided to go for a Melee centric team, being damaged when attacking my tank.

I think this shows you how good Dragon cards can be, so don't underestimate them.

Finally, I hope you enjoyed my review of Brighton Bloom, and see you next week on the next Challenge!
