My Body Is Not a Spare Part Shop

If you pay very close attention, or you are the type that usually pays close attention to detail like myself, you will discover that if you look around, there is this type of quietness that comes with poverty. It does not look calm at all because it is that type that keeps putting pressure on your neck, especially if you come from the place that I come from, where to secure the daily bread looks like you are in a competition that you do not even need to subscribe to.

When I open my X account, I have different tweets where a lot of people are asking where they can sell some of their organs just to have money. It might look like a joke, but some are really serious about it. You might just see it as a post, that the motion behind it is so serious.

I have seen someone boldly say that, "Sebi na me get my body, it is not yours, so I can sell it to survive," so at this stage, I always wonder if I should stop them or just let them be.

Actually, if we take a look at it, it is very obvious that I am not the one who owns their body; it belongs to them, so why interfere in their matter? Because I am not the one paying their house rent, giving them transport fare, buying them food, or doing their day sub, it is their responsibility. But beyond all these things, it is definitely way beyond who owns the body because my body, your body, is not a business. And like I usually say, all because I want to flex, live the big lifestyle, and buy the latest things, I will never turn my body into merchandise, and because those people too want to get out of poverty, they should not sell their bodies either.

Someone might just decide to wake up one day and decide that he wants to sell one of his organs all because it is a choice that they have made out of being desperate, but one thing that I also know is that such a person might be desperate, but he is not free.

I came across someone some time ago, just in a commercial bus, not someone I know. He was with another person, and they were discussing how tough the country is and how it has become very difficult to survive, then one of them said, "Omo, if e dey possible to sell my kidney today, nothing dey stop me ooo". I looked back, speechless, and he was like, "No, be so, my bro", I did not reply to him because I was like, if everything is okay, he would not have said that. He said it out of being desperate and has considered it as an option because he is not free.

So if you ask me if selling or harvesting organs gives hope, I will say no because it creates more room for problems. Yes, I agree with you that it is your body, but that is a gradual suicide, and it is my duty and the duty of those who care to prevent those who might want to try it and talk sense into their heads that the path they are walking into might be more dangerous than they can imagine. And if this is the only way that the poor see as a way out, it will only endanger their lives and make them a target even for organ harvesters.

And I think to reduce all these "I want to sell my organs" issues, there should be more jobs, support for the people because these things will not even allow some people to think about they planning on selling their organs talk less of making it legal in our society.

My body, your body should not even have a price tags not to even looks at it as a spare part office because it deserves all the dignity one could ever imagine in this world.

Thank you for reading.

Should I say we are thinking alike...lol
That is just it, people don't know that those organs are there for a reason.

Normally some people can go to any extent to live the life they wish to live and just like you said, it's a gradual suicide which should never be allowed. Money don override self-love for some people

Selling your organ reduces your life span to start with, they don't think of the health risk, that could even lead to death and severe infection.
Life might not be so easy, but selling your organ is definitely not an option.
