The App That Quietly Owns My Day
A lot of people usually say, "I am not a fan of the green app" which is WhatsApp, but if you ask me any day any time, that is my go to chatting app because it is right here on my smartphone; I do not need to operate a laptop to use it. My phone is mostly close to me, sometimes in my pocket. In my country, phone data is relatively affordable to buy and lasts longer than connecting to the PC, even though our power supply is shaky. Things go on so fast, but then, my phone always takes the lead.
I use business WhatsApp, though, not the normal WhatsApp, and that works fine for me because that is where I find it so easy to check up on my work messages and gist with my family. That is where I can post the schedule and catalogue of my works for clients to see, and they message me if they need my assistance. It is where I can easily connect with my old buddies and create a group chat where we can pass messages across to each other easily. Sometimes I am excited to use the app, and sometimes I do not feel too moved to open it.

I usually spend some time on it because it is very easy to navigate for me, I only have those who I trust on it. It serves as my private space because I easily get notifications from chats, and I can decide which messages I want to respond to without draining my energy.
And I will not lie, this usually affects me sometimes and I will admit it is because I usually put more attention on it instead of focusing on my daily tasks. And vibration from it shifts my attention closer even when I have decided to drop the phone. And even at night when I promise myself to go to bed on time, I see myself still busy responding to one or two messages from my guys.

And yet, I understand why I stay longer on that app because here in my country, where finding opportunities comes with staying connected, my WhatsApp feels like a survival for me, but that should not get me distracted.
So, over time I have learned to reduce how I use it. I respond to those messages that are very important and mute those groups causing distractions because not everything deserves my attention. But the app has not changed who I am, I have only decided to control it and I guess that is a good choice.
