When Ordinary People Carry Burdens We Didn’t Create
Sometimes, when I take a look at the situation of things and what has been going on recently in the world, and most especially in the place that I came from, I have discovered that it is the innocent people, the common people, who are involved and paying for the sins that they know nothing about.
And this reminds me of watching a movie where two friends went to swim; the other didn't know how to swim but was standing at the edge of the pool, and then suddenly, his friend pushed him inside the pool. We all know exactly what might likely happen.
And somehow, those who have not been affected and are still watching from afar might blame the victim and say, What is he doing at the pool edge when he knows that he cannot swim?. Exactly, that is how it feels when we, the inhabitants of a country, suffer from the decisions that are being made by those who are leading us.

And I will not lie, this has become a reoccurring pattern in my country. Most of our leaders make decisions that we, the citizens, feel and suffer the impact of. These leaders make decisions in a full AC room, but the heat comes down on us. I could remember a few years ago when a careless policy was made and we, the citizens, were using money to buy money, I am very sure that we, the citizens, felt that, and up till now, some people's businesses have not yet recovered from it.
Now come to think about it, this popular Nigerian musician, Davido, whose uncle is the governor of Osun State. Anytime he made a decision or danced to any music, people tend to attack Davido, telling him to talk to his uncle. And that made me wonder how that concerns him. And this is also relatable to our lives. Some of us get attacked by the decisions made by our leaders just because they are from our tribe, even though we did not vote for them to get to that position, but people blame us for their political ego missiles.
A lot of people have forgotten that some of us are not even in support of what these leaders are doing and the decisions that they are implementing, but instead of them facing the government, they would rather pour the blame on us that we put them there. Innocent civilians are now being dragged into the misdeeds of our politicians.

I have never been involved in such blame, and I never pray to see myself in it because it can be so draining and helpless because I am just a boy trying to go through all the ups and downs just like the rest of us.
Maybe the real solution to all this backlash we are facing is trying to call a spade a spade, and we should stop pouring the blame on us civilians because some of us are just trying to face this life, breathe, and run away from things that will stain us.
Because what usually pains me the most is the weight of the bad decisions of these leaders has been put upon our heads, which is really weighing us down as citizens.
Thank you for reading.

I agree with you that the citizens don't deserve to be blamed for the actions of their leaders, it's not fair.
Thanks for agreeing
Just like a saying; because a man is crippled the whole city is called land of the cripple
We shoulder the weights of the leaders acts while they walk with light shoulders which is absolutely disgusting when thinking about it
Yes ooo...it is so so disgusting
It is well
Even in the well
The analogies you used in creating your post is funny and also creative.
You are right about the heat coming down on we citizens that know nothing about the decision of our leaders, its a sad situation
Yes ooo....I used the one that people can easily relate with.
