It is always fun to talk about the new cards. This week the Challenge asked us to pull out the Lava Spider. This isn't a card that clearly works with Tarsa so I didn't level it up yet. But after taking a closer look at the card I see some good reason to add it to the fire team. I will try to break that down for you.

Lava Spider

The Lava Spider is a low mana monster with high HP for that cost but low damage. Yet it has the sniper ability right away and later on gets snare and poison. At first look, it is an easy card to skip. Tarsa gives melee and health no bonus to range and no other snipers in the new team for fire. Yet this card can be a star teamed up with Yodin and Ferexia General. That is out of a lot of players' budgets but a sniper with splash snare in an earthquake match or just a Yodin Sniper team just got better. I don't have those cards so what way did I find it to work with my deck? It can soften up a target for the Serpentine Spy or Fire Elemental. Make sure you hunt a back row target or finish off one that got hit with some splash damage. Also at 3 mana and 5 life with Tarsa or 6 if level 3 then you can put it on the last spot to take a few sneak attacks.

The plan

This was an odd-only game. With 32 mana right away I was thinking it was time to start with Living Lava and Fineas Rage and then the Serpentine Spy after that I had to pick some cards to help them. I knew about the Lava Spider Challenge so I dropped him in. The idea was to have it snipe mage or archer and get them low for the Serpentine Spy then I put Tenyii Striker on the board and then I made a mistake. Scavo Hireling was a good card to pick to heal the armor on Lava but I left it at the end. I shouldn't have done that as the Striker has enough HP to last a while in this spot. That could have cost me but because the other team was 2 sneak guys and Serpent it was okay because he still only had 1 hp and would project my Serpentine Spy. But he should have been in found of him to protect him better.

My opponent went with a team close to mine but he when with a few changes. I was a bit worried about the extra sneak monster but I was feeling pretty good as we got going. You can watch the full replay here

Round 1

With the fight about to start, you can see that my Spy will kill his Spy even if he goes first it is going to hit my Scavo. Also, my Fineas is going to hit first then we then his Fire Elemental. but that is okay then we roll the first RNG and see what Spy goes first. I won the roll and his Spy died before attacking. This lead to my Scavo dying when Uraeus attacked but that only let my Striker get hit once. Overall the first round went me for sure because my Spy lived and really put the battle in my hands. Also, my Lava Spider did land a blow on the Fire Elemental.

Round 2

The map looks a lot different now with his Spy gone and my team having one more Hp would be important. Fineas with start the fight again and then the Fire Elemental but then it will die to my Spy. After that my Striker with one more speed would make an important kill and drop the Uraeus allowing him to live through the round. That made it so he would also get one more attack. The fight is just about over I am taking control now.

Round 3

In this round, my speed is going to be key to just about finishing this off. I will kill the Lava first and then the rest of my team will attack. I will lose my Lava before he attacks but I end up way ahead. My striker will die but after dealing a big hit before that.

Round 4 The End

Fineas might have been the star of the show but the lava spider did the job I wanted and was one more protection for sneak guys getting to my Spy. Here I will finish off both guys before they get to attack back and end the fight.

It was a nice win for me. I am still doing well in Silver 3 and am glad that I have got those level 2 cards as they are helping me a lot still. Soon I will make the push for level 3 cards but I am working on getting a few more teams to have some level 2 cards.
