I don't have anything to share

today, as I got a little busy with family/holiday stuff the last few nights, so I thought it'd be fun to revisit some of the first songs I did that were inspired by Splinterlands (at the time, Steem Monsters). I believe this was my first submission for the Music/Lore Contest, and is a song I've always really liked. It actually came together quite randomly, with very little initial intent, and wound up working with the theme of a retro/8bit video game perfectly. This was written in early 2018 I believe, so we're coming up on the 2 year anniversary pretty soon.

Listen to Sounds of the Spirit of the Forest here.

I think the only part of

the track that is a bit weird is the bass; I had basically just copied the chords into a new track, and added an arpeggiator, so at points it fills in spots with all 1/8th notes, and others just 1/4 notes. Aside from that, I am still really happy with all 3 of the synth parts, they all have that retro-timbre, and because they took up a similar place in the mix, certain parts jump in and out, which made for a great effect. I'd love to do more songs like this, so I'll go back and find the original session and see what instruments I was using, and try and build some new stuff.

Hope you enjoy today's Steem Monsters throwback tune! Thanks for listening!
