Haon vs Mycelic.gif

Introduction

There is a game rule that can bring the greatest confusion to the battlefield. I'm talking about Equal Opportunity, which makes this ability available to all monsters in the match. There are several ways to improve your team's performance in this hostile environment, one of which is to attract opponents' attacks to bait and low HP monsters, which have abilities such as Redemption, Thorns, Magic Reflect or Return Fire. It is also possible to use a monster with Taunt to distract your enemies while your monsters eliminate the most vulnerable targets. The answer about which strategy to adopt will depend on the other rules, the available MP and the Splinters enabled in the game.

In today's battle I sought to neutralize the adverse effects of this rule by placing a monster with Taunt on the battlefield, Dark Ha'On:

Dark Ha'On Lvl 4

Taunt: Attracts enemy attacks from second to last position, with the exception of those with the Reach or Scattershot ability.
Flying: Increases evasion of physical attacks against monsters that do not have this ability.
Scavenger: Gains 1 HP each time a monster is killed on the battlefield. He acquires this skill at level 02.
Void: Reduces magic damage taken by half rounded up, with the exception of damage equal to 01 which is neutralized. He acquires this skill at level 03.
Magic Reflect: Returns half of the magic damage taken, rounded up, back to the attacker. He acquires this skill at level 04.

This card is very strong, especially at higher levels, but the one I had at my disposal was at level 01.

The strategy before the battle

The battle had the Equal Opportunity and Spreading Fury rules active, 34 MP available, and only Fire and Life Splinters were disabled. My opponent's history was full of battles using magic compositions with Summoner Obsidian, so I sought to counterattack with Summoner Thadius Brood that neutralizes the increase in magic damage and still reduces 01 health to all enemies.

As mentioned earlier I chose Dark Ha'On to neutralize the Equal Opportunity rule and placed it in the last position. As a tank I chose the Crypt Beetle, because even with low HP it would only have to deal with the enemy tank's attack and its Shield skill would help it hold out for a few rounds. In second and fourth positions I put the Phantom Soldier and Death Elemental with Silence looking to further reduce my opponent's magic attack. In third position I put Skeleton Assassin with Sneak and in fifth position Life Sapper with Life Leech.

Once the team was assembled, I expected my opponent to follow the pattern indicated by his history, and it did.

The battle

As expected my opponent came with Obsidian combined with a team with magic attack. He also used a monster with Taunt to attract my attacks, Mycelic Slipspawn, in last position. As a tank he selected the Failed Summoner with Magic Reflect. In second place was the Unicorn Mustang with Void. In the third and fourth positions were the Khmer Princess and the Magi of Chaos and in the fifth position the Djinn Biljka with Camouflage and Void.

As in Greengineer (2022-a) we had a battle with 02 monsters with Taunt. My opponent's monsters movement speed was lower than mine and their magic attack would receive 01 debuff from my Summoner and 02 Silence debuffs from my monsters. This tipped the balance of the match in my favor as will be shown below.

During the first round Mycelic Slipspawn was eliminated. My Dark Ha'On remained largely intact.

In the second round the Failed Summoner was killed by my Dark Ha'On. The Khmer Princess was killed by my Death Elemental's attack and the Magi of Chaos was killed by my Life Sapper. The Unicorn Mustang eliminated my Crypt Beetle.

03 Round Opportunity.png

In the third round, no monsters were killed, but the Unicorn Mustang was about to fall.

04 Round Opportunity.png

In the fourth round the Unicorn Mustang attacked my Phantom Soldier, who with the speed gain provided by Rage, attacked him then eliminating him. Then my Dark Ha'On attacked Djinn Biljka, taking him out of the game and ensuring my victory.

My opponent had a strong team, but the fact that he always used the same pattern in his matches allowed me to counter him accurately.

I hope you enjoyed the battle and if you wanted to follow it in detail, just click on the link in Greengineer (2022-b).

--------PT/BR--------

Dark Ha'On Lvl 4

A batalha

Meu Dark Ha'On permanecia praticamente intacto.

02 Round Opportunity.png

O Unicorn Mustang eliminou meu Crypt Beetle.

03 Round Opportunity.png
