Introduction

It's not news for those who follow my posts that I think Yodin Zaku is an extremely strong card (Greengineer, 2022-a and 2022-b). And this opinion is shared by several other users, so much so that even the game itself jokes in one of the messages on the battle loading screen where it answers the best way to defeat Yodin: buying the card and burning it.

I believe that, like me, you do not have the financial means to apply the above method, so we will use a more accessible and different strategy from the one presented in Greengineer (2022-a) where I used Summoner Lir Deepswimmer. This time I didn't have the Water Splinter available, so I had to make do with Quix The Devious and he did the trick.

The strategy before the battle

Yodin (and Llama) users tend to have one thing in common at high ratings in Silver League: Their history denounces if they do the abusive use of these summoners. It was no different with my opponent, his history was full of battles with Yodin Zaku and with only 03 Splinters available, including Fire, it was predictable that he would use this guy.

The other 02 Splinters were Death and Dragon. I only had cards leveled up in Death Splinter, but none of the summoners I had with my league level would help me against Yodin. But in Dragon Splinter I had Quix The Devious, which would neutralize the buff that increases the damage of monsters with a ranged attack and would also reduce the speed of the enemy team.

Having chosen Quix, I put it to Death Splinter to help him and I tried to put together a strategy similar to what I did in Greengineer (2022-b), putting 02 monsters with the Shield skill on the front line, Harklaw and Crypt Beetle. But I was also inspired by Greengineer (2022-a) and between the two tanks I placed a monster to attract attacks that had the Snipe ability, in this case the Riftwing. For the attacking monsters I tried to focus on the backline, which is usually where the source of Yodin's damage is, putting Silent Sha-vi and Undead Badger with their Sneak abilities. With the remaining 02 MP I chose the Undead Priest to neutralize another Yodin buff, which is to increase the HP of his allies (if the Taking Sides rule wasn't active I would have put the Hafling Alchemist, but the priest did a good job).

Once assembled the team was waiting for my opponent to continue using Yodin and it was no surprise that this happened:

The Battle

Along with Yodin my opponent came with Flame Monkey as a tank, Living Lava as a secondary tank and as ranged attackers Molten Ash Golem, Fire Beetle and Spark Pixies.

It was clear that his concern was to strengthen the front line in order to delay the elimination of his backline if I adopted a standard method of attacking the first position. As the attack method chosen by me was with two Sneak monsters his backline got in trouble. So much so that at the end of the first round he had already lost the Spark Pixies.

His Fire Beetle was about to be defeated because in addition to receiving the damage from the Undead Badger, he took the Riftwing's Backfire, for having missed the hit.

2 Round Yodin 2.png

At the end of the second round he lost two more monsters and only Living Lava and Molten Ash Golem remained.

3 Round Yodin 2.png

In the third round I lost my Riftwing and my enemies were still standing.

4 Round Yodin 2.png

At the end of the fourth round, only Living Lava was left on my opponent's team.

5 Round Yodin 2.png

After two more rounds the last monster was defeated, guaranteeing my victory.

6 Round Yodin 2.png

As said before my opponent forgot to protect this backline, which caused him to lose most of his firepower at the beginning of the match. He had options that could have brought more balance in the game, which was to put Fire Monkey or Molten Ash Golem in last position.

I know I didn't protect my backline either, but here's a detail: a Yodin rarely attacks with the Sneak skill because there is only one ranged monster that has this skill in Fire Splinter (Piromaniac) and it's hard to find a player who wants to lose the buff which increases ranged attack. An exception to this finding is the presence of the Super Sneak game rule.

Hope you enjoyed this other strategy to defeat Yodin. If you want to see the battle in detail you can follow it on Greengineer (2022-c)

PS: Sorry if there is any error in the above writing, as English is not my mother language.

A batalha
