SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! CRUEL SETHROPOD EN-US/PT-BR
Introduction
Another weekly challenge released (Splinterlands, 2022), this time about a Water Splinter card from the Chaos Legion Set, the Cruel Sethropod.
Among all the cards released from the Water Splinter, the Cruel Sethropod is one that doesn't have abilities at any level, just like the Kulu Swimhunter (Greengineer, 2022-a). In its favor it has its good HP + Shield ratio considering the MP spent, being a good card when the Little League and/or Back to Basics game rules are active, or when there is little MP for summoning.
The strategy before the battle
The match had the Back to Basics and Lost Magic rules active, 25 MP available, and only Life and Dragon Splinters were disabled. Looking at my opponent's history, I realized that there was an abusive use of Summoner Mylor Crowling, so as there would only be a possibility of doing physical damage in the game, I would have to avoid relying on melee damage.
That wouldn't be a difficult task with the presence of the Back to Basics rule, which meant there wouldn't be any monsters with abilities in the game. This way, the only monsters that could attack without being in first position would be the ones with ranged attack. With that in mind I selected the Summoner Lir Deepswimmer which would give the Return Fire ability to all my monsters, in addition to +02 Shield and the Debuff Blind. So in addition to being more protected against physical attacks, which would be all the damage in the match, they would return part of the damage to ranged attackers.
When using Lir, there are only 18 MP left to summon my monsters. In this way I looked for cards with a good HP + Shield ratio per MP spent to occupy the main tank and secondary tank positions. For this mission I chose the Spineback Turtle and the Cruel Sethropod. I used 02 tanks to make better use of Return Fire, seeking to eliminate the enemy's rear. As ranged attackers I selected the aforementioned Kulu Swimhunter in fourth position, Naga Windmaster in fifth position and Grenadier in last position. To occupy a free slot I used the Torrent Fiend in third position.
Once the team was assembled, I was hoping that my enemy didn't have the same idea of using Lir, and that happened.
The battle
My opponent came with Mylor Crowling as a Summoner, putting Pelacor Mercenary as a tank and Furious Chicken as a second tank. As ranged attackers he selected Venari Seedsmith in third position, Iza the Fanged in fourth position, Acid Shooter in fifth position and Centaur in last position.
His tank was stronger than mine and he had more ranged firepower. Both my strategy and his were taking damage to hit, but Return Fire had way more monsters to hurt than my opponent's Thorns.
In the first round I lost my Spineback Turtle, but most of my enemies lost health in the process.
In the second round, Naga Windmaster eliminated Pelacor Mercenary, then Grenadier eliminated Furious Chicken and then Cruel Sethropod eliminated Venari Seedsmith, leaving only 03 enemies on the battlefield.
In the third round Kulu Swimhunter eliminated Iza the Fanged and then my Cruel Sethropod was eliminated by Centaur. Then the Naga Windmaster eliminated the Acid Shooter and the Grenadier ended the match by delivering the final blow to the Centaur.
No monsters were defeated by the Return Fire skill, but they were so weakened by it that my ranged attackers were able to eliminate every single one of my enemies with a single blow, with the exception of the tank.
I hope you enjoyed the battle, to follow it in detail just click on Greengineer (2022-b).

A batalha
Na sequência o Naga Windmaster eliminou o Acid Shooter e o Grenadier encerrou a partida dando o golpe final no Centaur.
