Introduction

Another weekly challenge released (Splinterlands, 2022), this time about a card from the Fire Splinter and the Chaos Legion Set, the Djinn Apprentice:

Djinn Apprentice Lvl 08

  • Deathblow: Doubles damage if the target is the last enemy on the battlefield.

The Djinn Apprentice is a card that in the first levels does not have any skill, acquiring Deathblow from level 06. Even with this skill, it is not the one that usually makes him enter the battlefield, but the ratio between the magic attack and the MP used, which is why it is a good option in battles with the Back to Basics rule. In addition to not having an arsenal of skills, another weak point is the low amount of HP for the MP used. Admittedly, other magic monsters tend to be low on HP, but considering that neither the Summoners nor the monsters of the Fire Splinter provide defensive abilities like Protect, Djinn Apprentice ends up being an easy target for Opportunity and Snipe abilities. A battle with your participation will be presented below.

The strategy before the battle

The battle featured the Heavy Hitters and Explosive Weaponry rules, had 44 MP available, and only Fire, Earth, and Life Splinters were enabled.

With Explosive Weaponry active I remembered the strategy used in Greengineer (2022-a), who used the Summoner Conqueror Jacek to provide the Scattershot ability to his allies, increasing Blast effectiveness. In addition, with Scattershot we can reach positions that are not protected by monsters with Reflection Shield and ignore the influence of the Taunt ability.

To minimize the Blast damage on my team I tried to use a tank with the Taunt skill combined with Venator Kinjo in second position. So, unless my opponent used the same strategy of using monsters with the Scattershot skill, my backline would be protected. In choosing the tank, I repeated the strategy used in Greengineer (2022-b), where I used the Coeurl Lurker combined with monsters with Swiftness and Slow skills. This way he would deflect most of the enemy attacks, lasting as long as I needed to break the enemy backline.

So, having defined Summoner and the first two positions, I placed Spirit Miner in fourth position with Dodge, Swiftness and Blind. In fifth position was Supply Runner with Swiftness. For the last position I chose Countess Sinash with Opportunity, Camouflage, Swiftness and Affliction. With the remaining 05 MP I placed the Djinn Apprentice with Deathblow behind the Venator Kinjo.

The weak point of this strategy would be if another Conqueror Jacek or Byzantine Kitty came, but luckily for me this didn't happen:

The battle

My opponent came with Summoner Tarsa. In the first position he placed Exploding Rats with Blast and Redemption. In second position was the Grum Flameblade with Bloodlust, Void Armor, Void and Giant Killer. In third position was Venator Kinjo with Reflection Shield, Camouflage and Immunity. In fourth position was Tenyii Striker with Sneak and Dodge. In fifth position was the Lava Launcher with Close Range. In last position was Forgotten One with Immunity, Retaliate and Piercing.

My opponent sought to protect himself from Blast damage by placing Venator Kinjo and Lava Launcher. If I focused on monsters with the Sneak ability I would have serious problems with Forgotten One in last position if I activated Retaliate. Exploding Rats wouldn't last long and would have the function of reducing the health of my allies with Redemption. If I used the Snipe or Sneak skills I would hit Lava Launcher, making Blast have an increased performance when hitting three monsters. In summary, his team would only have 03 monsters attacking my tank per turn and most of these attacks would miss the target, as will be shown below.

In the first round the Exploding Rats was eliminated, taking one life from all my allies. My tank dodged the rest of my opponent's attacks.

In the second round, it was Tenyii Striker's turn to say goodbye to the match. And Coeurl Lurker was not hit.

03 Round Djinn Apprentice.png

In the third round Lava Launcher and Forgotten One were eliminated. Again my tank kept dodging Grum's onslaught.

04 Round Djinn Apprentice.png

In the fourth round, Grum Flameblade fell and then it was Venator Kinjo's turn to leave the battlefield, guaranteeing me the victory.

04-2 Round Djinn Apprentice.png

The strategy of using Coeurl Lurker with Conqueror Jacek proved successful. The Djinn Apprentice fulfilled its role by reducing the HP of the enemy backline monsters.

I hope you enjoyed the battle, if you want to follow it in detail just click on the link in Greengineer (2022-c).

A batalha

02 Round Djinn Apprentice.png

03 Round Djinn Apprentice.png

No terceiro round o Lava Launcher e o Forgotten One foram eliminados. Novamente meu tanque seguiu desviando das investidas do Grum.

04 Round Djinn Apprentice.png

04-2 Round Djinn Apprentice.png
