Introduction

Another weekly challenge released (Splinterlands, 2022), this time about a Fire Splinter card, the Radiated Brute.

As commented on Greengineer (2022-a), I don't usually use the Fire Splinter in my battles, but as there were two daily quests of this Splinter in sequence and there was this challenge, I played around with the compositions and right at the beginning I participated in the battle that will be presented below. But first let's analyze the card in detail:

• Reach: With this skill melee units can attack from second position.

• Enrage: When taking damage this card multiplies its damage and speed by 1.5.

Radiated Brute is a card that can be used as a secondary tank due to its Reach ability, being interesting in low MP games. At lower levels it can take advantage of the Reverse Speed ​​rule due to it low speed. In the defensive aspect it doesn't have abilities like Void or Shield that could increase its resistance to enemy attacks or high movement speed that would allow some dodges. But enough rambling, let's get to the battle.

The strategy before the battle

The battle had 46 MP available, Super Sneak was active, and Death and Dragon Splinters were disabled. With Super Sneak active and plenty of MP at his disposal, using the Fire Splinter was not a difficult task.

My opponent's history was full of battles using melee comps with both Fire and Water Splinters, so he was likely to take advantage of the rule. This way I put Living Lava in the last position to protect my team with its Shield skill. Behind him I placed the Grum Fireblade in fifth position. In fourth position I put Exploding Dwarf with its high attack power and Blast. In third place was Disintegrator with its Demoralize and Trample abilities. As a tank I chose the Serpent of the Flame with its high attack speed and Poison. And with the remaining MP I placed the Radiated Brute in the second position. As a summoner I chose Plado Emberstorm.

Once assembled the team, I was hoping that my opponent didn't abuse magic attack and that's what happened.

The battle

My opponent came with Summoner Tarsa using Living Lava as a tank, Grum Fireblade in second place, Disintegrator in third place, Legionnaire Alvar in fourth place, Antoid Platoon in fifth place and Xenith Monk in last place. This way he got a 02 Demoralize combo, reducing my physical attack by 02, which could put me at a disadvantage. However, its strategy had a flaw, which was the lack of protection of its backline, as we will see below.

In the first round Xenith Monk was eliminated by my Grum, increasing his stats by 1. The Serpent of the Flame poisoned my opponent's tank.

In the second round it was Antoid Platoon's turn to feed my Grum. My Living Lava also dropped to enemy Grum.

At the beginning of the fourth round the enemy tank fell due to poisoning.

In this same round the Legionnaire Alvar and the Disintegrator died and the latter fed my Grum once more.

In the fifth round my Grum eliminated the enemy Grum, granting me the victory and another stat upgrade.

When Super Sneak is active the tank will only take damage from the other enemy tank and monsters with magic or ranged attacks. So putting Living Lava as a tank was a waste of its Shield ability on my opponent's part.

I could have put Grum in second position and Serpent of the Flame in second to last and an Antoid Platoon as a tank, so I could take less risk if my opponent came with magic attack and take better advantage of my Serpent's Retaliate ability. But this way I would not fulfill the weekly challenge, because I wouldn't have the Radiated Brute in my composition. Soon you can see that this was not the best game to use it, but he fulfilled his role.

Introdução

Mais um desafio semanal lançado (Splinterlands, 2022), desta vez sobre uma carta do Splinter de Fogo, o Radiated Brute.

Como comentado em Greengineer (2022-a), não costumo utilizar o Splinter de Fogo em minhas batalhas, mas como apareceram duas quests diárias deste Splinter em seqüência e havia este desafio brinquei um pouco com as composições e logo no início participei da batalha que será apresentada a seguir. Mas primeiro vamos analisar a carta em detalhes:

• Reach: Com esta habilidade unidades melee podem atacar da segunda posição.

• Enrage: Ao receber dano esta carta multiplica seus dano e velocidade por 1.5.

O Radiated Brute é uma carta que pode ser utilizada como tanque secundário devido à sua habilidade Reach, sendo interessante em partidas com baixo MP. Em levels mais baixos ela pode se aproveitar da regra Reverse Speed devido à sua baixa velocidade. No aspecto defensivo ela não conta com habilidades como Void ou Shield que poderiam aumentar sua resistência aos ataques inimigos ou alta velocidade de movimento que permitiria alguns desvios. Mas chega de enrolação e vamos à batalha.

A estratégia antes da batalha

A batalha tinha 46 de MP disponíveis, Super Sneak estava ativo e os Splinters da Morte e do Dragão estavam desabilitados. Com Super Sneak ativo e bastante MP à disposição utilizar o Splinter de Fogo não era uma tarefa difícil.

O histórico de meu oponente estava cheio de batalhas utilizando composições melee com os Splinters de Fogo e de Água, logo era provável que o mesmo se aproveitasse da regra. Desta forma coloquei o Living Lava na última posição para proteger minha equipe com sua habilidade Shield. Atrás dele coloquei o Grum Fireblade na quinta posição. Na quarta posição coloquei o Exploding Dwarf com seu alto poder de ataque e Blast. Na terceira posição ficou o Disintegrator com suas habilidades Demoralize e Trample. Como tanque escolhi a Serpent of the Flame com sua alta velocidade de ataque e Poison. E com o MP restante posicionei o Radiated Brute na segunda posição. Como summoner escolhi o Plado Emberstorm.

Uma vez montada a equipe era torcer que meu oponente não abusasse de ataque mágico e foi o que aconteceu.

A batalha

Meu oponente veio com a Summoner Tarsa utilizando o Living Lava como tanque, o Grum Fireblade na segunda posição, o Disintegrator na terceira posição, o Legionnaire Alvar na quarta posição, o Antoid Platoon na quinta posição e o Xenith Monk na última. Desta forma ele ficou com um combo de 02 Demoralize, reduzindo em 02 meu ataque físico, o que poderia me colocar em desvantagem. Porém sua estratégia possuía uma falha, que foi a falta de proteção de sua backline como veremos a seguir.

No primeiro round o Xenith Monk foi eliminado pelo meu Grum, aumentando seus stats em 1. A Serpent of the Flame envenenou o tanque de meu oponente.

No segundo round foi a vez do Antoid Platoon alimentar meu Grum. Meu Living Lava também caiu para o Grum inimigo.

No início do quarto round o tanque inimigo caiu devido ao envenenamento.

Neste mesmo round o Legionnaire Alvar e o Disintegrator morreram e este último alimentou meu Grum mais uma vez.

No quinto round meu Grum eliminou o Grum inimigo, me garantindo a vitória e mais um upgrade em seus stats.

Quando Super Sneak está ativo o tanque só receberá dano do outro tanque inimigo e de monstros com ataque mágico ou à distância. Desta forma colocar o Living Lava como tanque foi um desperdício de sua habilidade Shield por parte de meu oponente.

Eu poderia ter colocado o Grum na segunda posição e a Serpent of the Flame na penúltima e um Antoid Platoon como tanque, assim poderia me arriscar menos caso meu oponente viesse com ataque mágico e aproveitar melhor a habilidade Retaliate de minha Serpent. Mas desta forma deixaria de cumprir o desafio semanal, pois não teria o Radiated Brute na minha composição. Logo dá para ver que esta não era a melhor partida para utilizá-lo, mas ele cumpriu com seu papel.
