Upcoming Developments for the DEC Token in Splinbterlands

Numerous developments are unfolding within the @splinterlands, and one of the most eagerly anticipated events is the launch of Lands and the commencement of Production phase. The introduction of Lands holds the potential to impact various aspects of this Play2earn game, ranging from the Splintershards(SPS) and Dark Energy Crystal (DEC) token to the NFT cards. Let's delve into one token DEC for a comprehensive understanding.

Dark Energy Crystal (DEC) Token - Start, Future & my Holding

The initial introduction of DEC token within the game saw it pegged at a rate of $1 per 1000 tokens. This valuation was used for acquiring various in-game items, such as GEMS Packs in the Splinterlands Shop, cards, Potions, Skins, Upgrading Guild Buildings and more. With the forthcoming implementation of Lands, DEC will acquire additional utility, including its utilization for plot cleaning and maintenance. Initially, players earned DEC tokens through ranked battles, receiving a portion of the DEC reward pool corresponding to their league placement. Later, DEC was removed from the reward pool, and SPS tokens were introduced as rewards for ranked play.

At present, avenues for earning DEC tokens directly from the game are limited, primarily confined to the rental market. This market comprises two segments: the Card Rental Market and the recently introduced SPS Rental Market. The former has been a part of the game for an extended period, while the latter is a more recent addition. Players have the opportunity to earn DEC token from both the card rental and the SPS rental markets. The card rental involve the listing of cards for rent and the interested players lease them and has the option to pay the rent in DEC token, many players used this method to earn form their spare cards. The old edition cards are more valuable so also earn more form rental as well.

SPS Rental has been introduced after the big change in game which required the stalked SPS for better rewards form ranked play, so their was a need of such market which give the interested players the option to lease the SPS form other players. The lease payment is in the form of DEC token. Many big amount of SPS holders used this method to earn DEC, by delegating the SPS give two advantages first is lease payment and another is the staked SPS rewards.

Despite its $1 per 1000 token value for in-game purchases, DEC tokens are available at discounted rates within the secondary market.

The provided screenshot originates from Hive Engine, revealing a current price of $0.0007830 for DEC. This equates to a cost of $0.7 for acquiring 1000 DEC tokens. This current price stands 22% lower than the pegged value. There was a period when the value of DEC experienced a rapid surge, coinciding with the release of the SPS airdrop.

In the above screenshot, it's evident that the price had escalated to 15 times the pegged value of the token. During this period, all Splinterlands assets experienced an overvaluation. The surge in demand for a larger share of the SPS airdrop prompted a significant across-the-board price increase in game assets.
To prepare my self for the upcoming Lands I have start accumulating the DEC and buying at such attractive price is must. Recently I have swap BCH in my account earned form other social medial platform into the DEC. At present I ham holding smilingly more then 93K DEC in my Hive-Engine wallet and approximately 5k to 7k in the game account (including the alt accounts)

DEC Utility - Staking DEC for Lands

All of us know that the cards will play a major role for production on plats in Lands ecosystem. The cards staked on plots will act as workers in lands. Each plot can accommodate maximum 5 cards and in case of the Runi their is space for one additional card to total 6 card can be staked on plot (6 cards including the Runi).

A Power Source is necessary to maintain the manifestations summoned through the use of cards. It can be thought of as a type of generator, and like all generators, it needs fuel in order to function.

The above sentence are form the The Secret of Praetoria talk about the fuel to run the generator and on lands the Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) only act as the fuel. The fuel or Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) will not be burned they just required to be available for the Power Source to use. That means the DEC will be required to stake for the functioning of the whole process. This will be first time in game that the DEC will also has the staking ability. The DEC will be the only token to act as fuel even the DEC-B will not be useable. The DEC-B can replace DEC only in the case when DEC is burned.

Now the question is how much DEC will be required?

The required staked amount of DEC for activating worker cards will be 10,000 (10k) per card at maximum level. For cards below the maximum level, the necessary staked DEC will be proportionally lower based on their BCX compared to the maximum BCX for that specific card type.

The foil, rarity, or edition of the card will not influence the required staked DEC amount for powering them. However, these attributes could still offer substantial production bonuses.

Final Words - The DEC is a token in the game ecosystem form a long timer and play a significant role in different stages during the evolution of the game. We have seen how the demand was increased exponentially during the SPS airdrop. The Lands will also create the huge demand of DEC and a decent amount of DEC will be locked or staked for activating worker cards.
