Crypt Mancer and Undead Minotaur, the perfect combination for horror begins | Splinterlands Fan Art

Crypt Mancer+Undead Minotaur

I keep trying to make Wallpapers

Almost every time I make two Splinterlands characters in the same scene I try to make them in 16:9 format because I want to get a cool wallpaper for my PC and maybe for yours.

This week my wallpaper includes Crypt Mancer and Undead Minotaur, and I've chosen these two characters because it's October, the month of terror, and what better for Halloween than an Undead and a dark wizard controlling him to destroy a village. Tell me in the comments what other character would be ideal for Halloween or what characters you would like to see together in a scene.

🔰Process🔰

-Step 1:

The most important thing goes first, the skeleton of the scene and where I get to make skeletons, or in this case an undead and old minotaur that had to possess the body of someone younger in order to live. The main idea is that the minotaur would be jumping straight at the camera in attack, as you would expect a hungry zombie to do, and right behind him, Crypt Mancer controlling him and directing the attack.

-Step 2:

Then I started to paint with grays, to define the elements that would stand out in the scene, on the part of the minotaur there are not many remarkable things, but Crypt Mancer has a more complex armor and with many elements in his attire, besides his torso is very elongated, I guess the character must be over 6′ 5″ tall, but this led me to complications when making his pants, since I didn't feel comfortable with the proportions I was handling, that's why I decided not to show that area and cover it with some power or mist of some style.

-Step 3:

Since I usually make blurred backgrounds and sometimes I don't even know what elements to add, this time I wanted to improve on this and create a burning village, it's not the most detailed you'll see in your life, but it's a step closer to what I want to achieve in future scenes like the one I've made this time.

As for the color, I've quickly added the highlights of the fire and the minotaur's eyes, plus the Crypto Mancer's cape.

-Step 4:

Something I'm not satisfied with so far is the face of the minotaur, from the sketch it seemed to me that I was drawing a kind of rat with horns, since the style of teeth I decided to make him are not at all those of a bovine, in fact cows do not even have teeth on their upper gum. But leaving that aside, I gave a little more strength to the face, adding more hair and removing some of the oval I had done to the skull and I fought with myself about whether to make ears or keep the original design of the card, in the end the latter won. Also, I added more color to the whole scene, specifically more orange to simulate the fire in the houses and I was painting the Crypt Mancer with lighter or duller colors to highlight the distance between both characters.

-Step 5:

The last card I illustrated for the contest was the Countess Sinash, and something that stayed in my head when I saw it several days after finishing it, is that the whole color palette was too reddish and that does not make me feel comfortable, since it was not something deliberate and it was not the result I wanted to get. That's why this time, in order not to get another illustration where everything looked orange, I wanted to take a risk with a contrasting color for the sky and another one for the flames under the Crypt Mancer, forcing the viewer to look at the minotaur and then look at a Crypt Mancer framed between two bright colors and opposite to each other.

I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.

Tell me in the comments that you imagine when you see this illustration.

See you in a future post!

Woah. This looks great.
Love the colors. It's warm yet not too heavy on the eyes. Perfect for a wallpaper. 😊
