Hello again friends! I hope you are having a great time, today I come to break the routine and participate for the first time in the @splinterlands art contest, it's been a long time since I participated in an art contest and this one comes like a ring to my finger to rest a little and make monsters, which I love.

Honestly I don't know much about the game and I've been interested mostly in its monsters, so when choosing one of them to make my art, I've focused on its design and aesthetics, also I wanted to start with a monster that didn't have too many fan arts, so I could give it my touch without being influenced by other references.

-Step 1:

I wanted to give an imposing pose to this character, to take advantage of his wings and with them demonstrate power and strength, so I took my camera and started a photo session in my living room posing with a broom in my hands to get the pose from the angle I wanted.

-Step 2:

I don't like to keep the canvas in pure white, as it makes my eyes tired, so I went straight to my beloved grays to give the first shadows and volumes to the illustration, and then with a layer in the "color" blend mode give saturation to these shadows and have the base colors of the character.

-Step 3:

Now it's time to paint directly on the canvas, I have focused first on the armor, as it is the one that would take more details because it covers most of the body, also I had to establish its dynamics of brightness and shadows as it had to be seen that it is made of metal.

-Step 4:

Now that I was clear about the direction the Soldier's coloring would take, I started to work on the background. Due to the color palette I was handling so far, the scene had to take place at night and so I wanted to make a moon in the sky, but while I was drawing the circle and establishing its color, it occurred to me to darken it to see what tone was the most optimal and I loved how it looked this way, so I immediately gave it an outer glow to highlight it even more, and I got this, which looks like an eclipse and increases the epicness of the illustration.

-Step 5:

Now come the final details, the way to get here was very long, to see more images of the process I recommend you to go to the GIF below👇. But here I focused on defining the strokes and getting rid of that strange thing I had painted in the middle of the legs and make it right, I also shaped the arm that rises and added a skull on top, but with horns to fit the fantasy tone.

The background is all with a motion blur to enhance the power of the character, implying that it is he who has control of the situation and is the strongest at that moment (as he is probably the winner of this battle).
