Why I support the Splinterlands Collection Score

A year ago I bought my first 110
Splinterlands booster packs. I did this because I was getting only one/max two rewards per day and wanted to earn more. Without the packs it was difficult to get out of the Bronze leagues, let alone compete in the Silver leagues.

After Untamed was released I created a new experimental account with no investment except for the Summoner's Spellbook. This account now holds cards worth about 25 USD.

It finished the last season in Diamond 3!

And that without even trying for it. I only played the matches required to complete the dailies.

Now many people here are complaining that limiting their leagues ruins their ROI. Let me tell you something: If things continue like they do now, you will have no more ROI.

"Oh the veteran is only thinking about his interests and not considering what is good for new players."

You are wrong. Think about what gives the cards you earn from the quests any value. It is people like me who have spend thousands of USD on the game. (Actually, I'm a rather small fish compared to the players really relevant for the economy.)
If these players don't need to buy your excess reward cards to max out theirs in order to be able to compete in Champions league, why would anybody do that? Why would the cards retain any value?

They would not. Everybody would just be playing level 4 teams and reap valueless Diamond rewards.

"But I am so super skilled. There should not be anything but skill keeping me from rising the ranks."

Wrong again. The reason you are rising in the ranks is that the high amount of bots playing each other with low-level decks permanently have inflated the ratings. This statement is simply put to the test by asking how many tournaments you have won recently. In a Silver tournament everybody's cards are capped in level. Therefore, it should be easy with your honed skills to beat the pros. But then again the same people complaining now that the Collection Score is unfair because they should be allowed to play in higher leagues are crying because veteran players are snatching away their Silver tournament prices.

Maybe you are right and this will be an additional obstacle in onboarding new players. I am not saying it is the perfect solution to the problem. But it is better than letting the game's economy go to ruin.

I don't think it will be an obstacle for new players. They will not know the previous system and simply come into a more stable one.

I think people will wind up liking as it will be much more sustainable too.
