Prepare for Chaos only brawl
So you are fighting in a brawl

Congratulations, you are in a guild and participating in a brawl. Hm? What's that? You have to play Chaos League Cards only? You have no idea how that will impact your game? Well, since you are reading this you are at least aware, that it might impact your game (duh) and it seems you want to prepare for it. Again, congratulations (with a nice handshake), you are on your way of becoming a great Splinterlands player. So let us dive into it.
Got all your cards?
Chaos League is currently the newest edition there is. That means supply is high and prices are low. If you read this in 4 or 5 years, you might have a different view on things. 😉
So get your deck ready, either buying or renting is fine but have the best and all cards available, be sure your opponent will do the same. And since it is only one edition, it is easily manageable.

No more surprises
Being limited to Chaos League only has its pros and cons. You may not be able to play cards you want to play. But neither does your opponent, keep that in mind. This also means that you will (most likely) not face a card you have never seen before and therefore did not consider playing against while choosing your lineup. Did I write no more surpises? Well, there will be a surprise every now and then: Cards you neglected before because they seem weak are suddenly very strong in a way you never considered before. That is because the obvious counter came from a previous or reward edition and is not available to play in this format. Here are some examples:
- Earth splinter has no unicorn tank while fire splinter got Tusk as an obvious tank against magic
- Water splinter can not play the beloved Djinn Oshannus and Venari Wavesmith (both reward cards)
- Life has General Sloan as its only Summoner but not many ranged attackers to chose from and yet in some weird constellations he might be your summoner of choice
- Death can not really take that much damage overall (only 2 cards have armor and only 2 cards more than 6 health)
- Only Earth and Water have a taunt in Chaos League. Beware that Wave Brood (water taunt) is epic so not available in "rise of the commons" ruleset.
This list is far from being complete but as I said before, they are just examples. Did I leave something out you consider important? Feel free to let me know in the comments.
Learn from others
Normal ranked battles have no limitation on the edition. But many tournaments do have those limitations. Just enter a tournament for a few DEC and practice. To find those tournaments easily you can select the appropriate filter:
But what if you have to fight tomorrow and there is no tournament until then and you really, really, really want to prepare? No worries. You can switch the filter to completed. Have a look:
Now you just click the button View and have a look at the battle log of that tournament. Watch those battles and learn from them. Would you have picked the same lineup? What surprised you? Which card or even positioning made the difference?
