The Curse of the Forgotten Champion

The sun hung low over the jagged peaks of Mortis Vale, casting eerie shadows across the battlefield. The Splinterlands had seen countless warriors rise and fall, but few spoke of those who simply… disappeared.

Among them was Selya, a once-great champion who vanished without a trace. Legends whispered that she had ventured too deep into the Rift—a place where the barriers between magic and madness blurred.

A Summoner’s Desperation
Veyron, a young summoner from the Earth Splinter, had spent years searching for the truth behind Selya’s disappearance. His mentor had once told him, “Magic does not just fade—it lingers, waiting to be found.” And so, with nothing but a cracked map and his dwindling faith, Veyron set out toward the Rift.

What he found was far worse than he could have imagined.

The Shadow Duel
The Rift pulsed with unnatural energy, twisting the very fabric of the battlefield. Veyron barely had time to summon his warriors before the shadows coalesced into a form—Selya, or what was left of her. Her armor, once gleaming gold, was now obsidian black, and her eyes burned with an unholy light.

Selya had become something else—something bound to the Rift.

She spoke no words, only raised her corrupted staff, and the battle began.

A Battle Beyond Death
Veyron called forth his strongest warriors, but the Rift bent reality itself. Every attack they landed seemed to ripple through Selya without harm, while her cursed magic drained their strength. The fight seemed unwinnable.

But Veyron noticed something—her hesitation. In brief flashes, her old self flickered behind the corruption, as if trapped within. He realized then that this was not a battle of power but of will.

Instead of attacking, he did the unthinkable—he dismissed his warriors. Alone, he faced her.

“Selya, you were a champion of the Splinterlands! Remember who you are!”

For the first time, her hand trembled. The Rift screamed as the magic binding her began to fracture. With one last effort, Veyron channeled all his remaining power—not into destruction, but into restoration.

The Rift shattered. The battlefield fell silent.

The Price of Victory
When Veyron awoke, the Rift was gone. The land was still, and Selya stood before him, human once more, though forever changed.

“You saved me,” she whispered.

Not all victories in Splinterlands are won with brute force. Some battles require a different kind of strength—the strength to save, rather than to destroy.
