Hello everyone!

This week things got interesting with one of the best support monsters in my opinion - The Disintegrator.

Lets check out this awesome monsters stats:

disintegrator-stats.png

Starting off level 1 he has quite decent stats - 2 damage, 2 armor, 5 hp, but only 1 speed. The ability he has is what makes him so useful he excels in melee battles! Thats right - Demoralize, which reduces all enemy melee damage by 1 point. At level 5 he even gains Trample, at 8 - Knock-out and at 10 - Retaliate.

So the battles I use him almost every single time are Melee only, All Opportunity and All Sneak as players tend to use mostly melee monsters because they can attack from any position.

The battle I had the following rulesets:

ruleset.png

  • Equal Opportunity: All monsters have the Opportunity ability;
  • Rise of the Commons: Only common and rare monsters may be used in battles;
  • 52 mana cap;
  • Available splinters: Fire, Water, Earth, Life and Dragon.

In the Rise of the Commons ruleset we can only use common and rare monsters and given that my best splinter - Water relies on mostly on Nerissa Tridawn, Djinn Oshannus and Axemaster for dealing damage who I cannot use I decide to go for the Earth splinter, using the most annoying anti-melee summoner - Mylor Crowling.

That's the team I came up with:

Monster I picked:Why I picked him:
So Mylor, because we expect the emeny team to me mostly melee monsters, which would also help with the killing of the enemy tank.
Unicorn Mustang is here because of his high base speed, 3 damage and the Void ability to mitigate any magic attackers.
The star- Disintegrator. Reducing all melee damage by 1 to make our monsters withstand even more hits while taking thorns damage from Mylors ability.
Gargoya Devil just because he has base armor on level 1 and the Flying ability. He will be the first target because he is the monster with least hp in the lineup.
Mushroom Seer to mitigate even more magic damage if the enemy goes for that, also the 2 magic damage which ignores armor is nice for the 5 mana.
Sand Worm. He is quite slow, but hopefully he can land a few hits in the game totalling lots of damage. We have mana to spend so why not?
Mycelic Infantry. Perfect fit for any melee oriented lineup. Fits perfectly to protect from Sneaks, which override the Opportunity trait. His Shield ability makes him withstand even more physical damage.

Okay, so probably not the best lineup, but we can counter wide variety of attackers on the enemy team so it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Lets see what happens in the battle, which you can check out for yourself - here.

Round 1

r1.png

Starting Round 1 we find out that we face off an Alric Stormbringer, level 3 with some higher level cards, but lets see what will happen. Luckily the Rise of the Commons ruleset helps us too because we cant face the strong magic monsters. We manage to mitigate the damage of their entire team with our Disintegrator and Mushroom Seer, so things are looking decent-ish, but as we dont have a Taunt monster on our team, which thinking about it now we should've gone for it to protect atleast our weaker monsters - Gargoya Devil and Mushroom Seer for atleast 1 round of damage from the enemy team, but oh well.

The battle begins with Unicorn Mustang attacking and chunking the Giblin Mech's armor. Then the enemy backline monsters take a few turns on our Gargoya Devil and manage to take him out after all three of them attack him and Medusa even manages to land a Stun on him, not that this changes anything and he goes down. Following this bad start the enemy Sand Worm attacks our Mycelic Infantry taking just some of his armor and Deeplurker taking 2/3 of Mushroom Seer's hp, but Mylor returns the favor in returning 2 damage each and taking the bonus armor the Venari Wavesmith gave them before the battle began.

The final assaunt in this turn comes from our side when Mushroom Seer manages to 1-shot the enemy Ice Pixie, then our Mycelic Infantry take away Medusa's armor, Disintegrator taking 2 of her hp and Sand Worm eating away Venari Wavesmiths shield.

Round 2

Starting Round 2, our Unicorn Mustang manages to take away the reamining 3 points of armor of the enemy Goblin Mech. He gets angry and hits us back taking a huge chunk of hp but takes 2 damage in return and lives with only 6 points of hp left. Sadly now Medusa attacks and kills off our Mushroom Seer which removes his Silence effect and she and Venari Wavesmith gain their +1 magic buff again who takes a swing at our Unicorn Mustang and takes 1 hp from him. Next the enemy Sand Worm takes the remaining armor from our Mycelic Infantry and takes 2 damage in return leaving him at 4 hp. Then the Deeplurker hits the Unicorn Mustang and we have a 2 for 2 damage exchange. Unlucky for us Mycelic Infantry misses Medusa and she manages to survive 1 attack longer as she gets Disintegraded /pun intended/ in the next attack. Closing round 2 is our Sand Worm one-shotting the Venari Wavesmith.

Round 3

r3.png

Unicorn Mustang opens the round with 3 damage hit on Goblin Mech and leaves us looking quite good. Sadly Goblin Mech returns the favor and manages to take down our Unicorn, but Thorns leaves him hanging by a 1 hp thread. Then the enemy Sand Worm tickles our Mycelic Infantry once again eating 2 thorns damage in return. Next up Deeplurker hits our Disintegrator taking away his armor.

Time for revenge as the final assault on the enemy team begins with Mycelic Infantry by killing the evil Goblin Mech, Disintegrator takes out the Deeplurker and our Sand Worm ends the battle with removing his evil level 3 twin!

Victory is achieved with this weird team and we get the battle results below:
