Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge - EARTHQUAKE

image.png

Hello Splinterlands Community, for this week the challenge is to show the flexibility and adaptation in creating team composition with the Earthquake ruleset present in the match as it deals physical damage to all enemies in the battlefield at the end of every turn in the battle if that unit does not have the flying ability.

Ruleset: Earthquake

image.png

The featured ruleset for this week is Earthquake. This ruleset deals 2 physical damage to all units in the battlefield at the end of every turn which are not flying units, flying units which have been snared would also take damage each round while non-flying monsters with the shield ability receives reduced damage from this ruleset. It makes monster with the flying ability very powerful in the match as they are immuned with the effects of the Earthquake ruleset. In this type of match there are some summoners in the game which are effective for the Earthquake ruleset, these are Brighton Bloom, Lorna Shine, Kelya Frendul and other summoners that provides protection against the effects of this ruleset. It is tough not to use a non-flying monster in this type of match as the number of monster with the flying ability in the game are limited and building a team consisting of all flying monsters might not be that effective just to avoid the damage dealt by the Earthquake ruleset, this is why it is important to choose the monsters that will be deployed in this type of match as well as selecting the summoner that would give protection against the effect of this ruleset.

My Lineup

Summoner: Brighton Bloom

image.png

I used Brighton Bloom as my summoner for this battle. It is a dragon summoner that gives flying ability to all my units at the start of the match. The flying ability from this summoner is very useful in this match as it makes my units safe from the effects of the Earthquake ruleset. This summoner also allows me to use dragon units in the game which is also helpful in building my team.

Monster 1 : Djinn Chwala

image.png

I used my Djinn Chwala in this match and placed it at the first position. It is a very durable unit that has a great amount of health and an armor which deals melee damage to enemies. It is suitable in the first position as this unit has the Thorns ability which deals damage to melee enemy monsters that will target this unit.

Monster 2 : Scorch Fiend

image.png

I also used my Scorch Fiend in this battle. It also deals melee damage to the enemies and does not have a decent amount of health. This monster does not cost any mana to be used in the battle which makes this monster a good bait against enemy monsters that has an opportunity and snipe abilities.

Monster 3 : Djinn Inferni

image.png

I also used Djinn Inferni in this battle. It deals a great amount of magic damage to the enemy team but it does not have a good amount of health. This unit has Giant Killer ability which makes this unit deal double amount of damage against enemy monsters that has a cost of 10 mana or higher. That ability can be useful in this match if ever the enemy team used a monster that costs 10 mana or more.

Monster 4 : Blood Maker

image.png

I also used my gold foil Blood Maker in this battle. It deals ranged damage to the enemy team and it also does not have a decent amount of health. This unit has the Scattershot ability which makes this unit strike random target each round. The unpredictability of this unit can be either beneficial or ineffective for my team.

Monster 5 : Countess Sinash

image.png

I also used my Countess Sinash in this battle. It also deals a great amount of ranged damage to the enemy team and it also does not have a decent amount of health. This unit has the Opportunity ability which makes this unit target the enemy monster that has the lowest amount of health. It also has the Camouflage ability which makes this unit safe from enemy monsters that has sneak, opportunity and snipe abilities unless this unit is in the first position.

Monster 6 : Uraeus

image.png

Lastly, I also used my gold foil Uraeus in this battle and placed it in the last position. It also deals melee damage to the enemies and it has an armor which makes this unit a bit durable against melee and ranged monsters. This unit also has the Sneak ability which makes this monster prioritize the enemy monster that is placed in the last position of the enemy team.

ROUND 1

image.png

During the first round my team was able to take down the opponent's Spark Pixies, the armor from my Djinn Chwala is very helpful as it absorbs all the ranged and melee damage coming from the enemy team. The enemy team mostly used flying units in this battle which is why only few monsters would be affected by the earthquake ruleset.

ROUND 2

image.png

During the second round the opponent's Xenith Archer was taken down due to the damage coming from the Earthquake ruleset. My team was also able to take down the opponent's Living Lava and also deal a good amount of damage to the Gargoya Lion. My Djinn Chwala was able to absorb all the damage from the enemy team and survived in this round.

ROUND 3

image.png

During the third round there are no monsters in the battlefield that does not have the flying ability which makes the Earthquake ruleset not much relevant in this round. My team was able to take down the opponent's Gargoya Lion and Tower Griffin in this round which makes the Gargoya Devil the last remaining monster for the enemy team.

ROUND 4

image.png

During the fourth and final round my Countess Sinash deals the killing blow to the opponent's Gargoya Devil that signifies the end of the match and secures me this victory. The durability of Djinn Chwala was showcased in this battle where it was able to survive the whole match despite absorbing all the damage coming from the enemy team. The flying ability from my summoner was very effective to avoid the damage coming from the Earthquake ruleset and the outcome of this match would be very different if I used another summoner for this team composition.
