image.png

Hello Splinterlands Community, the challenge for this week is to showcase the magical power of River Nymph in the battlefield. This unit is a good support card in the water element that has a useful ability which is very effective in some battles.

About River Nymph

River Nymph is a rare water unit that deals magic damage to enemies that belongs to the Chaos Legion set. The current lowest price for a regular foil card is $0.103 while the gold foil card is currently listed at $1.980 on the marketplace as of this writing. It is one of the affordable rare cards in the marketplace and it is also the cheapest rare card in the water element on the Chaos Legion set making it easier to upgrade.

The figure above shows the complete stats of River Nymph from Level 1 up to Level 8. It requires more than 100 cards to reach its maximum level which is not an easy task but the benefits are huge considering that it has 3 different abilities at that point. Based on the figure above, I can say that upgrading this card to Level 4 would be great in order to unlock its second ability which is amplify. That ability increases the effects of magic reflect, thorns and return fire ability which is massive in battles. It is also good to upgrade this card to Level 6 to increase its magic damage so that it would not only be a good support card but can now also be a decent damage dealer for the team.

The Ruleset

Keep your Distance

image.png

There is only one ruleset present in this match which is Keep your Distance. This ruleset does not allow melee monsters to be able to used for this battle. It means only ranged and magic damage monsters are allowed for this match as well as monsters that does not deal any damage at all. I choose to go with magic damage team since it directly hits the target's health and also capable of dealing damage even if it is placed in the first position.

My Lineup

Summoner: Delwyn Dragonscale

image.png

I used Delwyn Dragonscale as my summoner for this battle. It gives +1 magic damage to all my monsters and it also allows me to use dragon element cards in this battle. The magic damage buff from this summoner is beneficial to all my units especially on my Djinn Oshannus and Nerissa Tridawn which are my primary damage dealers in this match.

Monster 1 : Djinn Oshannus

image.png

I placed my Djinn Oshannus in the first position. It is a legendary water card that deals magic damage to enemies. It also has the void ability which reduces the magic damage this card would receive from the enemy team.

Monster 2 : Nerissa Tridawn

image.png

I also used my Nerissa Tridawn in this battle. It is also a water element card that deals magic damage to enemies. It has more magic damage compared to Djinn Oshannus but it does not have the void ability which makes this card less durable against enemy monsters that deals magic damage.

Monster 3 : Sea Stalker

image.png

I also used my Sea Stalker for this battle. It deals a massive ranged damage to the enemies which is also the same amount of damage with my Nerissa Tridawn. It has the snipe ability which makes this card target the enemy monster not currently in the first position. It also has the camouflage ability that makes this card untargettable by the enemy team unless it is in the first position.

Monster 4 : River Nymph

image.png

I also used my River Nymph for this battle. It also deals magic damage to the enemy team and it has the cleanse ability. That ability removes any negative effects on the monster that is currently in the first position. It makes my Djinn Oshannus that is in the first position perfectly fine against any debuff abilities that the enemy team might have.

Monster 5 : Kulu Swimhunter

image.png

Lastly I placed my Gold Foil Kulu Swimhunter in the last position. It is a ranged monster so it does not benefit on the magic damage buff coming from my summoner and it needs to be placed at the back of the team so that it can deal damage consistently every round.

ROUND 1

image.png

On the first round my team was able to take down the opponent's Giant Squid at the same time it puts the Angelic Mandarin in the first position which makes that unit impossible to deal damage at the next rounds due to being placed in the first position. This already puts me on a big advantage as this match progresses.

ROUND 2

image.png

During the second round the huge magic damages from my team was enough to take down the opponent's Angelic Mandarin and Merdaali Guardian. This gives me a 5 to 3 advantage in terms of monster left heading to the next round where the enemy team has only two units left that are capable of dealing damage to my team.

ROUND 3

image.png

During the third round and final round my team was able to defeat the opponent's remaining monsters which are Mantoid, Goblin Chariot and Venari Spellsmith. It was a total slaughter in this round where the enemy team was not able to deal any damage at all to my Djinn Oshannus. This also makes not only my Djinn Oshannus but also my other units survive the whole match with no casualties at all.

 " "image.png""

River Nymph is not only a good support card but also can be a decent magic damage dealer that can be use in ranked battles. It has the cleanse ability which removes any negative effects on the monster that is in the first position . For this battle I manage to secure this victory using magic damage monsters such as Djinn Oshannus, Nerissa Tridawn and River Nymph. The ranged damage coming from Sea Stalker and Kulu Swimhunter is also helpful in this match as well. The cleanse ability from the River Nymph may not have been activated in this battle since there are no any debuff abilities on the monsters in the enemy team, however its magic damage was enough to contribute for this victory. The effectiveness of River Nymph's ability can be seen better if the match has the Noxious Fumes ruleset where the cleanse ability from this card would take effect.
