Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Antoid Platoon Card Review

Hello Splinterlands Community, for this week I will share my thoughts and opinions about Antoid Platoon which is a great tank unit that can serve as a frontline monster for the team that belongs to the Chaos Legion Set.

About Antoid Platoon

Antoid Platoon is a common fire unit that deals melee damage to opponents that also belongs to the Chaos Legion Set. The lowest price for a regular foil card is currently at $0.036 while the gold foil card is currently listed at $0.592 on the marketplace as of this writing. It is a bit expensive compared to the price of majority of the common cards in the Chaos Legion Set. This card is very usable in most match when the fire element is available which is why it is costly compared to other common cards in the set.

The figure above shows the complete stats of Antoid Platoon from Level 1 up to Level 10. Based on the figure above, I can say that upgrading this card to Level 6 would be great to unlock its second ability which is Scavenger. That ability gives this unit +1 health every time a monster was taken down in the battlefield. It makes this card more durable as the battle progresses and it fits very well with the shield ability that boosts the survivability of this card. It is also quite attainable wherein it only needs a 100 cards to reach Level 6 while upgrading this card to its maximum level would be ideal in order to reach its 3 melee damage which is very useful in battles.

Rulesets

Antoid Platoon is a good frontline card that can be used in battles especially if the mana is limited. It has a great ability that can withstand melee and ranged damage coming from the enemies. It is a durable unit that still requires some careful planning if it will be used in battles. This is why I will share some rulesets in the game that I believe would be very effective for Antoid Platoon.

Lost Magic

image.png

This ruleset is advantageous for the Antoid Platoon. Since magic damage is one of the weakness of Antoid Platoon, this ruleset would help a lot in a way that it makes magic damage monsters unusable for the particular battle. This makes only melee and ranged monsters as well as non-damage monsters available in the match where Antoid Platoon can stand its ground with its shield ability.

Equalizer

image.png

This ruleset fits very well with Antoid Platoon, it makes the initial health of all monsters in the battlefield equivalent to the health of the monster with the highest amount of health on both sides at the start of the match. Antoid Platoon benefits a lot with this ruleset because it has a low amount of health especially on lower levels. This ruleset also boosts the shield ability of the Antoid Platoon where it makes this card more durable and sustainable in the battle.

Super Sneak

image.png

This ruleset is good to play for Antoid Platoon. It gives all melee monsters in the battlefield the sneak ability. That ability makes the monster to prioritize the enemy monster that is in the last position. It gives the Antoid Platoon the opportunity to deal melee damage every round even if it is not placed in the first position. This also makes Antoid Platoon viable to be placed in the last position where the enemy melee monsters would prioritize this unit, the shield ability of Antoid Platoon would help a lot to withstand the melee damage it would receive from the enemy team.

Little League

image.png

This ruleset also fits well with Antoid Platoon, it only allows monsters that costs 4 mana or below to be able to be used in the battle. It makes Antoid Platoon available for this type of match because it has a cost of 4 mana to be able to deploy. This is also the type of match where the available monsters does not deal a huge amount of damage and mostly have 1 damage which does not affect Antoid Platoon because of its shield ability.

Armored Up

image.png

This ruleset also fits well with Antoid Platoon, it gives +2 armor to every monsters in the battlefield at the beginning of the match. This makes Antoid Platoon more tankier and durable for the battle. The armor buff was also strengthen by the Antoid Platoon's shield ability wherein it reduces the ranged and melee damage it would receive from the enemy team. The only downside of this ruleset is when the enemy team deploys a magic damage team composition where the armor buff and shield ability of Antoid Platoon would not stand a chance.

Summoners

Knowing what summoner to play with is essential in order to utilize the durability and damage that the Antoid Platoon can bring in the battlefield. Since Antoid Platoon is a fire element unit, it can only be used whenever the fire element is present in the battle and it can only be deploy using a fire element summoner or dragon element summoner if it is available as well. Because I mostly played Chaos Legion Cards, Gladius Cards, Reward Cards and some starter cards that are playable in the game so far, I am going to share my personal thoughts on the summoners that belongs in those sets that I mentioned, where I am familiar with and have experienced playing it on several ranked battles, which I think would be the best option to select whenever you want to use Antoid Platoon in the battle.

Tarsa

This fire summoner is probably the best choice whenever you will use Antoid Platoon in the battle. It gives +1 health and +1 melee damage to your entire team at the start of the match. The health buff gives Antoid Platoon more durability and sustainability in the battle while the damage buff makes this unit not only just a solid frontline unit but can also now be a good offensive unit in the battle.

Pyre

This fire summoner can be a good alternative option to use when playing Antoid Platoon. It gives +1 speed to all your units at the start of the match. It is a great boost for Antoid Platoon since it has a low amount of speed and the speed buff would give this unit the opportunity to strike first each round. This summoner would also be the great choice whenever the Silenced Summoners ruleset is present in the match.

Dragon of Arnak

Lastly, this dragon element summoner is also a good option when playing Antoid Platoon. It gives +1 armor to all your units and because this is a dragon summoner, it allows you to use dragon element monsters in the battle. The armor buff from this summoner works like the Armored Up ruleset which was mentioned earlier where your team would get a +2 armor buff which makes all your monsters durable especially low health monsters such as Antoid Platoon at lower levels. The ability to use dragon element cards in the battle is advantageous since there are dragon element cards in the battle that works well with Antoid Platoon.

My Battle

image.png

This is the ranked battle I want to share where I used my Antoid Platoon together with other fire element monsters to take down the enemy team. I used Tarsa as my summoner in this battle which buffs the health and damage of all my units. The shield ability from Antoid Platoon plays a big role to survive not only the damage coming from the Cursed Windeku but also the damage from its thorns ability.
