Splinterlands Art Contest Week 374 - Cornealus Sculpture

Hello lovelies, I hope your monday went super great, but if it didn't turn out as expected or so well, do not worry about it, tomorrow is another day and it will certainly be much better. It's been quite a while I participated in the Splinterlands contest and since I've been doing sculpting lately, I thought of giving the contest a try with my sculpture. For this entry, I sculpted the card Cornealus. This card came to my mind when I was pondering on which of the Splinterlands card to use. Stay with me through the entire process and I promise you that you won't regret stopping by

My Steps
So I started my sculpting using a lower resolution of a sphere, reason being that if I had increased the resolution, it would have been quite a struggle and headache to sculpt. Starting with a lower resolution sphere or any shape gives you the liberty of straining and stressing your sculptures however you want it, then after sculpting to a certain level you can then increase the resolution to give it a final smooth effect.
In my collage you will see two different sphere I started with, I transformed them then used one of the sphere to make an hollow opening which served as the lining of the inner iris.
After what I added two more sphere to sculpt the iris and the pupil of the cornea. And for the last frame in my first collage photo, you can see the strands, so that is how I started sculpting it one after the other

Here in the second collage, it's obvious that the strands increased in number, shape and sizes. I started from the bigger ones to the smallest. And for the strands, instead of using a sphere and transforming it all the way to give me a strand-like structure, I went ahead to use tubes and then reshaped and resized them to what you are seeing in the photos.
In this collage as well, I started colouring the iris and pupil.

Further colouring was done here, and for the part that appears wax-like, I used the mask tool, created the waxes in a reasonable amount then I coloured it with the appropriate color complimenting the original card

In these steps I tried to finish up my painting and colouring process and then went ahead to add basic lighting to my work, leaving shadows and highlights where necessary and also provided it an environmental lighting to add more vibrance to my sculpture

Below are up close view and shots of my finished sculpture of cornealus card. Adding a customized background to this piece came to my mind but I couldn't because the remeshes I did on this made it almost impossible to continue any further work on this project.

This is the side view of my sculpture and I really do hope you like it, and if you do please encourage and support my work in any way you can, it means a lot to me.

To bring this to an end, I will say that the colouring, lighting and highlighting was my favourite part of this work, usually I love the painting process because it brings life to one's art and that is not so different with sculpting.
After making a plain sculpture with irregular shapes, patterns and sizes, it's the colours that gives life to the sculpture and this is my best part of sculpting as well as when drawing since both are not so different.

Again, I had fun with this piece as with my other sculpting work, so tell me what you think, I would love to have your thoughts on my entry piece for the Splinterlands art contest for week 374
