SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! DRAGONS!

Hello Beautiful people! Hope your weekend is going well!

Today, I bring to you Twilight Basilisk as part of the @splinterlands, weekly #play2earn share your battle challenge.
At lower levels, this card is probably one of the least used. However, as you move up the ranks, in higher leagues such as diamond, you are more apt to see this card.
To demonstrate this cards effectiveness or perhaps weaknesses, I will share a battle with you.

Twilight Basilisk is a reward card, and it's a rare Dragon monster.
At level 1, Twilight Basilisk has a mana count of 4 with +3 health, 1 shield, +3 speed, 1 melee, and reach ability allowing to attack from second position.

At level one Twilight Basilisk is pretty fast however its melee attack of one and plus 3 health make a pretty weak card even though it has the reach ability. Yes it has speed but it doesn't do much damage even though it has a chance of attacking first.
However, starting at level 6 it does start to bring more to the table with its stun ability. With stun, it has a chance to stun the target causing it to skip a turn. This feature can come in handy when your opponent has a formidable tank.
In summary, now I can see why this card is rarely used in lower leagues as it offers little attack. However, in higher leagues it is a better card as it has the ability to stun an opponents tank.

Battleand Lineup

The Battle was a mana cap of 40 with Magic hitting armor first, and only common and rare monster may be used.
With that said below is the lineup I went with.

1.Goblin Mech :

Since we chose to use Twilight Basilisk, I went with a Drake of Arnak as my summoner to provide an extra shield.
Goblin Mech, is a useful tank as it provides heavy protection with +6 shield and does formidable damage with +4 melee and its pretty quick at 3 speed. However, it does come at a hefty cost of 10 mana. Regardless, it is a solid tank especially with its piercing ability.

2. Twilight Basilisk:

With its reach ability, Twilight Basilisk is a solid choice at position two. However, at lower levels this card is not very effective as it does not have stun. But for illustrative purposes we put her in.

3. Djinn Apprentice:

This card is part of the chaos legion roll out. And man its a pretty sick card as it offers plus 2 magic for the Fire Splinter. This adds a new element to the Fire splinter as it is magic weak and melee heavy. This is part of the reason I put him in. To diversify my attack.

4. Supply Runner:

Supply runner is another new card as part of the Chaos Legion roll out. Its a pretty cool neutral monster as it offer plus 2 range and has decent speed at +3. It is somewhat costly at plus 6 mana but can be useful if you have a summoner that adds extra range attack.

5. Tenyii Striker:

This is another new card and its pretty sick. I like this card because for the cost of 5 mana you get plus 2 melee sneak attack with plus 6 health. This will be a very useful card for the Fire splinter.

6. Molten Ash Golem:

Lastly we have Molten Ash Golem. This card can be used as a tank or also as a meat shield to protect your back line. It has +9 health and even though it has range it can attack from any position.

My adversary went with Earth splinter summoner Obsidian and monsters Mycelic Slipspawn, Elven Mystic, Venari Spellsmith, Goblin Psychic and Regal Peryton. Their strategy was to spam the heck out of magic. No matter what rule set, or new cards, you will always find people spamming the heck out of Magic. With the introduction of Chaos Legion, be ready to get spammed with Earth Splinter magic attacks. Looks like this go round Earth Magic is the new Water magic spam attack. No matter what you can never get away from these Magic Spam attacks lol.
Below I leave you with you some snippets of my battle as well as a vid.

Questions and Answers

Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?

As you can see, my opponent went with a heavy magic attack. They basically spammed the heck out of magic as all their monsters besides their tank had magic. Is Earth Splinter the new Water splinter? Good gawd these guys love magic haha.
With that said my strategy was a major failure. Part of its failure was the fact that I was forced to use Twilight Basilisk weakening my attack. I could of used much better cards in place of her, giving me a better chance.
Also it didn't help that I had Molten Ash Golem in my backline. My strategy might of worked a little better if I used him as a tank to eat up all the magic damage I was taking.
My opponent got lucky haha. Either way, I am liking these new Chaos Legion cards as my win rate has improved dramatically. I've been able to leverage my decks to my advantage leading me to more victories.

Do I like the Twilight Basilisk? Why or why not?

I don't mind Twilight Basilisk but at lower level leagues she is rather ineffective as she does not have the stun ability. Furthermore, with the introduction of Chaos Legion there are way better cards to choose from.
With that said, like most people I will continue to use other cards, as she is rather weak without stun.

This concludes my battle challenge. I hope you enjoyed it and were able to learn a little bit more about Twilight Basilisk and see how she stacks up against the rest of the competition.
