Good morning, good evening wherever you are. Wishing everyone a happy and joyous 2022.

Here is my 8th #brawlreport as part of the @hive.pizza B team. They call us The Deep Dish.

As usual the novice league and lower level rule sets were already taken so I went with the Alpha/Beta fray this time around. I am part of the Chaos Legion generation so I don't own any Alpha/Beta cards. So I had to rent some. That wasn't a problem as right now cards are very cheap to rent, even if its end of season and all.

I made sure to rent three or four summoners so I wouldn't get any flees should the rule set limit the amount splinters. A flee can be costly as it limits the amount of merits one can receive.

For under 20 DEC/day. I rented about 20 or so cards, from the life, death, earth, fire and neutral splinters. This was enough cards to give me a decent chance of competing. But winning well that's another story, as my deck was Magic weak. And we all know how people love to spam magic lol. But hey at the very least I could compete and that's half the battle. Plus I have a couple Gladiators that I could also use.

As a team we came in a respectable third place finish, garnering us a total of 462 merits, and one step closer to a gladius pack. I think our brawl participation was a total of 10 people. I wonder if we had 11, if our merits would have been higher? Lately, we've been having trouble filling the untamed frays. Maybe next time around we'll do some convincing and have more people join. Its a win win for everyone when everyone participates. But I digress.

On an individual level I went undefeated with 3 wins. I was mainly concerned with not fleeing a battle because lately merits have been hard to come by. Thankfully, my squad came through and we won 3 out of 3. Granted two of my opponents fled. But that's ok it doesn't bother me. My preparation of renting cards paid off for me and our guild. So I am happy.

In my one and only battle, SPEED is what prevailed. It was a low mana count, and my backline gladiator came through. Ajax Lightfoot's +6 speed and +2 range combined with Clay Golems magic void was a devastating combo.

Speed specially combined with the right cards is devastating tin this game.

SUMMARY

This was fun. I hope you enjoyed my #brawlreport.

Although, my brawl report is short and sweet, I think its a good representation of how brawls are set up in splinterlands.

There are a number of different frays to choose from when brawling. Depending on when you joined Splinterlands some are easier to join than others. If you are part of my generation, Chaos Legion, sure it is a little bit more difficult to find a good fit. But that's ok, thankfully there is a rental market. And by renting, it is possible to join battles or simply enjoy the overall game. So if you are ever discouraged about not having cards, don't fret, check out the rental market, get yourself some cards, and do battle!

With that said, a big thank you to @kennysgaminglife, @hive.pizza, and The Abundance Tribe.
