Splinterlands Brawl Report - January 04, 2022 #HivePizza #BrawlReport

Good morning, good evening wherever you are. Wishing everyone a happy and joyous 2022.

Here is my 9th #brawlreport as part of the @hive.pizza B team. They call us The Deep Dish.

Per my usual I joined the Novice Alpha/Beta fray. I went ahead and rented 4 summoners from Life, Water, Death, and Fire splinters. I rounded out my deck with 4 or 5 monsters from each of those splinters in addition to a few neutral monsters. Rentals cost me I think under 20 DEC per day. If you are deck poor, renting is definitely the way to go. Priced in dollars it was less than a penny a day. If you are new to this game, I don't recommend buying too many cards. Maybe pick up a few here and there and rent the rest. I know, I know but its so much fun opening packs. Heck yeah it is, but man its an expensive habit. But hey who am I to tell you what to do with your money lol, I digress.

As a team we came in 2nd place. Since I've joined the guild I think this is the highest we've ever placed. This time around we tried to get as many fray's filled as we could. And it was a success we filled 11 out of 13. A big shout out to @amaillo-m for picking up a Gold Foil fray, @jam728 for picking up a silver fray even though its was their first time, and as always @shauner for renting Untamed cards and beating up on some whales. Without them and the rest of the participants there's no way we would of filled 57 out 57 battles. Way to go everyone!

And given the efforts of our guild and strong showing we were rewarded with 831 merits each. That was a nice little haul. And for some in hive.pizza guilds this turned into some nice cards when purchasing gladius packs. As some got very lucky and managed to pull gold foil gladiators. Lucky bastards lol.

On an individual level I went undefeated with 6 wins. 3 were win via battle and the rest were surrender/flees by my opponents. Half the battle truly is just showing up haha. I had a strong showing as I managed to beat a Legionnaire. I know those titles don't come cheap. Below I will review my battles.

BATTLES

Battle 1

Once again speed kills. Even though it was a high mana battle and I had limited cards I came through with a solid win. Their team was slow AF and thanks to the holy protection rule set combined with the speed of my team I was able to attack first and cause damage. My tanks self heal and my gladiator with vicious melee damage was simply too overpowering. Nice win for team deep dish.

Battle 2

This battle had me a little worried. As I wasn't sure what my opponent was going to go with. My fire splinter team was pretty strong but I was concerned my opponent might use magic.

Thankfully I guessed correctly and was able to put in Clay Golem as my tank who has magic void. I followed him up with a beast of a Gladiator, Marisol Contuma who has plus 5 speed. Given that the rule set had eartquake, my summoners shield protection came in handy.

The battle ended up being closer than it should have as Enchanted Pixie managed to evade one my attacks even though Marisol Contuma is way faster. That flying ability can sure throw things off. Luckily, I managed to survive their magic attacks, and my team came victorious.

This win was extra sweet as it was against a top guild and I got to beat down on a "Legionnaire". Those titles I hear don't come cheap. My less than a penny a day rented deck whooped some ass lol.

Battle 3

My last battle was an easy win as my opponent's team was pretty weak. He used animated corpse as his tank. That card is one of the worse cards out there. So off the bat I knew things were going to go well for me. Man that card sucks lol.

Frozen solider as my tank, and my snipe and sneak attacks were simply too much. I quickly mowed down their team and I didn't even have to use tank heal. Easy win, leading me to an undefeated record.

SUMMARY

This was fun. I hope you enjoyed my #brawlreport.

It was very satisfying going undefeated, beating up on some whales and coming in 2nd place as a team. When more frays are filled it is a win win for everyone. More wins, more merits, more gladius cases. Maybe this next go round we can fill 13 out of 13 frays. It will be difficult since Gold Fold frays are hard to fill. Got to rent cards and what not. But I definitely think we should go for it. This gives us the best chance of coming in first place. Gladius packs never get old. We shall see, lesss go!

With that said, a big thank you to @kennysgaminglife, @hive.pizza, and The Abundance Tribe.
