Building your Frontline Makes your Lineup Impossible to Penetrate
Good day to all warriors! How are you doing today? This post is about Splinterlands Social Media Challenge! for this week. I have read some of the experiences shared by splinterlands warriors in the comment section; and I enjoyed a player that shared his experiences on melee mayhem.
Whenever I see melee mayhem rule in a battle, I know it is time to be smart about selection of cards.
Melee mayhem may be a complicated battle if all atta king cards (range, melee and magic) are allow to be used.
This is because you may think that the player will use melee attack, and ended up in using range attack throughout the battle.
In the battle, one player used Obsidian, and used 5 magic attack monsters; while the other player used Tarsa, and four of his attacking monsters were melee attack. He even used Disintegrator to removed -1 melee from all opponent's melee monsters.
At the end, the player that used Obsidian won the battle, and four of his monsters were still on the battle.
Therefore, as easy a melee battle, so it is also difficult to win.
♉♉Smart way to Take Down Your Opponent In Sophisticated Situation♉♉
When looking at this battle you will realize that it is a sophisticated battle. Sophisticated in the sense that only rare and common monsters were allowed to use. There was no legendary or other importants monsters players often used in battle. This kind of battle requires a player to be strategic and smart!
The second reason is that reverse speed was included in the rule; which simple means monsters with lower speed attack first in this battle.
It is not good to use monsters or summoners with high speed. Using monsters and summoners like that may result in a situation where such monsters did not attack on time; it is good when monsters have advantage to attack first in a battle.
When I clearly looked at the whole battle rule, I decided to come with strategy where I used Dumacke Orc to defend my monsters from behind; I knew that the shield and retaliate ability would help. If not this strategy, Tenyii Striker would have been a threat to my lineup from behind.
Since I have a lot of mana cap to use, I brought Ulundin Overseer to the battle due tonyhe high number of health and armor.

⚔️⚔️Rule of the battle⚔️⚔️
Rise of the common: You can only summon rare and common units.
I knew magic monsters would not be available in this battle and that was the reason I selected *Astral Entity. Resurrect ability made it difficult for opponent's monsters to eliminate *Ulunding Overseer” in the second time. If there was a magic monster, Ulunding Overseer would have been eliminated very fast when it was resurrected. The opponent's melee and ranged monsters find it difficult to eliminate in the second time because of the high number of armor.
Reverse Speed: Units with the lowest speed attack first and have the highest chance to evade attacks.
This kind of rule does not need monsters with high speed, and that was the reason I tried as much as possible to bring monsters with lower speed into this battle.
📍📍Monsters Arrangement📍📍
Ulundin Overseer
Splinter: Neutral
Level: 1 ⭐
Ability: Flank
Speed: 1 ⚡
Health: 12 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Armor: 5 🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖
Attack: Non-attacking monster
Mana: 11
One of the biggest reasons I brought Ulundin Overseer into this battle was the health and the flank. It took opponent's monsters second round to eliminate Ulundin Overseer; and I believed if it was Gargoya Lion I used just like my opponent, it would have been eliminated in the first round of the battle.
High number and armor of Ulundin Overseer made it difficult to destroy in this battle.
The flank gave me advantage to use a melee monster (Cursed Windeku*) in the second position.
Without Ulundin Overseer in this battle, it is impossible for Cursed Windeku to attack in the second position.
It was a biggest opportunity to use Ulundin Overseer in this battle because it really made it hard and difficult to penetrate my lineup from the front.
I knew that the attack in the Frontline of the battle would be very tough, that was the reason I built a frontline that would be impossible to penetrate.
Cursed Windeku
Splinter: Death
Level: 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Thorns and Heal
Speed: 3 ⚡⚡⚡
Health: 10 ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Attack: Melee
Mana: 6
It was crystals clear that even though Ulundin Overseer was eliminated in this battle, Cursed Windeku would led the battle to victory.
I was aware that eventhough Ulundin Overseer was eliminated, Cursed Windeku will deliver the victory. The reasons are:
The thorns- thorns would have been very dangerous against opponent's melee monsters such as Radiated Brute and Tenyii Striker; when these monsters hit the target, 2 damage would have been done to attacker.
Heal: health would have been restored in every round of the battle which would have made it more difficult to defeat.
Meriput Slinger
Splinter: Death
Level: 2 ⭐⭐
Ability: Impede
Speed: 3 ⚡⚡⚡
Health: 5 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Attack: Ranged
Mana: 7
The first time I saw Meriput Slinger in a battle, and the way it was impeding my monsters, I became anxious to use it.
Though, Meriput Slinger was not the best monsters to use in reversed rule but I don't a choice than to use it.
The more it impeded a monster, the more such a monster have advantage to attack faster in reversed ruleset.
Gobson Bomber
Splinter: Neutral
Level: 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Recharge and Camouflage
Speed: 4 ⚡⚡⚡⚡
Health: 5 ❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️
Attack: Ranged
Mana: 7
It was a strategic plan to bring this monster into the lineup; I have played ‘rise of the common' where I used melee monsters and my opponent used ”Disintegrator*. I was really astonished and decided to be very clinical when it comes to ‘rise of the common' battles.
I knew that the recharge ability would be a big threat to opponent's lineup; at second round, Gobson Bomber attacked Radiated Brute and eliminated it.
At round 4, it attacked Gargoya Devil and damaged 6 health; that was how Gobson Bomber was instrumental in this battle.
Gargoya Devil
Splinter: Neutral
Level: 3 ⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Flying and Close Ranged
Speed: 3 ⚡⚡⚡
Health: 3 ❤️❤️❤️
Armor: 1 🪖
Attack: Ranged
Mana: 7
Gargoya Devil was placed in the fifth position so that even Dumacke Orc was eliminated, it would take two attack to eliminated Gargoya Devil. The dodge and flying ability of Gargoya Devil could make mele monster to evade the attack. Therefore, there was a possibility that it may take 5th round to eliminate both Dumacke Orc and Gargoya Devil in this battle; and I believe that before such happen, more harm would have been done to opponent's monsters.
Fortunately, none of my monsters was eliminated.
Dumacke Orc
Splinter: Neutral
Level:7 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Shield and Retaliate
Speed: 2 ⚡⚡
Health: 1 ❤️
Armor: 7 🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖🪖
Attack: Melee
Mana: 7
When I understand that my opponent might use a sneak monster, I knew the best thing from me was to use Dumacke Orc.
Dumacke Orc made difficult for Tenyii Striker to penetrate my lineup from behind.
The retaliate ability of ”Dumacke Orc was instrumental in this battle by attacking Tenyii Striker back.
What made me to use Dumacke Orc was the availability of sneak monsters during selection: and I realized that there is 30% assurance that my opponent would use a sneak monster.
Though, I'm not strange to this rule, I encountered ‘rise of the common' everyday I play splinterlands battles, and I have witness different types of strategies from my opponents that gave me ideas.
The ideas gave me more insight whenever I'm playing ‘rise of the common’ battle.
In conclusion, my frontline was very good; Ulundin Overseer was incredible despite it is a non-attacking monster.
The only mistake I made was to use Meriput Slinger* in this battle, because it gave opponent's monsters adavantage to attack faster.
