What to do with SPT? Hold, Stake, Curate, Delegate, or Sell?

The monster curator dropped by and upvoted a post.

I feel a bit like I wont the lottery because now I see this on my posting

That means I'm going to be getting 1353 SPT in a week or so. I'm doing a little happy dance but a couple of guildmates were like...so what? They didn't really know how useful they were. So this is a post for all of you who aren't fully utilizing their SPT coins.

What are the options?

1. Hold them
I personally don't think SPT tokens are going to hold their value well once the SPS airdrop is done. However, there is nothing wrong with just holding onto them and get a portion of their value adding towards the Splinterlands SPS airdrop

If you want to hedge your bets a little you could always add them to a diesel pool like the Tribaldex SPT/SPS pool and grab a few rewards while your at it.

If I'm going to keep the coins I think I'll take option #2 though

2. Stake them

If I am holding onto the coins for the long term might as well stake them. By staking the coins I can't sell them right away with a little bit of a drag. However, in return I get curation power. What's curation power? Simply put whenever I like a post the poster will get some SPT for posting and I'll get some for liking their post. In that way my staked SPT are giving me more coins. Horray!

But sometimes I'm lazy and don't geel likefinding post to upvote. If that's the case then I should:

3. Delegate them

That's right. Once I stake my coins I can choose to give their voting power to another person. My favorite is monster-curator because they actively seek out the best posts and vote on them. By staking and curating my coins I've been getting about a 30% return paid out daily. I really can't complain about that.

However BE WARNED!! Stake the coins to your own account!! Some people have staked their coins to the monster-curator which just means you've lost your coins and any benefit. That's never a great plan.

Of course, the whole point of Splintertalk is to play the game! If that's your decision then you could:

4. Sell them

Those SPT coins can be turned into DEC to buy cards to battle with! More battles equals more DEC which is always a good thing!

Some people prefer chatting to battling though. For those people the SPT can be converted into HIVE which can then be staked to give Hive Power. More Hive power means being able to make more posts and curate more content giving even more Hive. Not such a bad idea either.

Of course you can also convert those SPT to Hive and then the Hive to BTC and cashout on a coin exchange. Maybe take those SPT from the monster curator and turn into enough money for an ice cream sundae to celebrate a post well received! Nothing sweeter than victory food!

Just please don't take option #5

5. Ignore them

You don't have to do anything at all with those SPT and just wait for months or even years and see what they do in the end. I have had some cryptocoins which went way up in value after I forgot about them for a few years. Still, I don't think that's a great option for those SPT tokens.
