The River Nymph

Aiding friendly monsters is one of the strongest elements of this monster. Providing assistance from the murky depths, removing ailments from those most in need and supporting them from afar with its own innate magical talents. The River Nymph is a good friend indeed.

Rule Set:

Rulset-2.png

Back to Basics: Removes the skills and abilities of the monsters so basic stats are all we have.

Strategy:

The plan here tends to be high speed and magic damage.

The Lineups:

Anti - Magic Summoner

Bortus_lv1.png
Bortus is a great choice to reduce incoming magical damage and is a summoner who can be used to their potential here. Hoping to not see a Nerissa but this should help deal with her.

Quick and Strong Tank

Diemonshark_lv1.png
Good speed, high health and high armour this is the perfect tank for the situation. Especially as I do not have access to Djinn Oshannus or Nerissa Tridawn available on this account.

Fodder

Albatross_lv1.png

With very little mana remaining, I opted to place two different monsters, Albatross and Hardy Stonefish in the line up to absorb a killing blow and separate enemy attacks.

Fodder with an attack

Hardy Stonefish_lv1.png
Pretty much as the Albatross above. The only reason I selected this card behind the Albatross was to reserve the extra damage if required but I think the position of these two cards makes little difference in the grand scheme of things.

Tanky Ranged Attack

Angelic Mandarin_lv1.png

For 3 mana, I think there is quite a bit of value here for these stats. The health makes it quite tanky and the 2 speed is nice enough. I'm hoping the Angelic Mandarin is still as healthy as it is at the start of the battle, otherwise things might get a little tense.

Magic Sniper

Ice Pixie_lv1.png

With 3 speed, and magical damage, this card is one I'd like to protect as long as possible. The 3 speed makes this card particularly strong for 2 mana.

Rear Magic Attack

River Nymph_lv1_gold.png

The River Nymph is an excellent supporting cast member. With the Cleanse ability, all negative effects are removed from the first monster, but in this case, this will not apply. I have placed this card at the back of the pack with 2 speed and 3 health as I'd like to keep it alive as long as possible, continuously chipping away directly at the health of the opposing monster. Alongside the Ice Pixie, I hope to keep this card alive for exactly this purpose.

Opposing Line Up

Summoner

Thaddius Brood_lv1.png

I think that Thaddius and Bortus are very similar but what gives Thaddius the edge is the reduced health of the opposing team.

Front Line Fodder

Carrion Shade_lv1.png

As far as 1 mana monsters go, the Carrion Shade is actually pretty decent. This card is here for the same reason my

Tank

Cursed Windeku_lv1.png

High health, good speed and decent damage. This is a great choice for a tank. Had I used Death, this would be my choice.

Magic Sniper

Death Elemental_lv1.png
A great selection for magic damage. Similar to my Ice Pixie really.

Magic Attack

Life Sapper_lv1.png
Again a very similar strategy to my own, I think this will come down to the individual cards themselves.

Ranged Attack

Xenith Archer_lv1.png

The Xenith Archer is versatile card with its low mana cost. Similar option to the Angelic Mandarin but with less health and one less mana.

Ranged Attacker

Soul Strangler_lv1.png

Saving the additional ranged attack damage for the rear of their lineup is a good idea.

What is the key difference between two similar lineups?

What looks to be the key difference is whether ranged damage or magic damage kept at the back of the lineup is better?

The Battle!

What could have been done differently?

The strategy has worked well. Ideally I think a Nerissa would have been very useful to have and could have given more damage from the rear but this would be a big increase in mana so would need to rework the line up completely. In this case, I am happy to take the win!

The River Nymph, recommended?

YES but...I think this is a great card but quite situational. Personally, it is on my list to purchase for both of my accounts.
