Noob - very excited about first ever pack opening

Hi All, this is my first post on splinterlands. I have to say I'm really enjoying the game, but by heck, I've got a lot to learn about it ! I'm very much in the noob category - but thats ok, you gotta start somewhere.

Anyway, I bought my first 2 chaos legion packs today, and I just opened my first one. I only had 6 of each potion, so thought it best to just open one pack, and wait until I have enough potions before opening the other.

So I have to say I was quite excited about the whole process. I had some cash left over on a prepaid mastercard that I got from playing games with Mistplay, so used that to buy credits this evening. I had to wait a while for the credits to come through due to issues with splinterlands - which added to my excitement. I then had to figure out how to open the pack and whether my potions would get used automatically or not (told you I'm a noob !). And then.........

I got the above - I'm guessing I didnt do very well, as I recognise 4 of those from the free cards you are allowed to use when you first play the game, and my total power rating only went up by 45 !

So after all that excitement, it was a bit of a disappointment.

Anyway, I'm enjoying the game, and thats what matters. I just have to figure out what to do with these now, and hope I get potions coming through soon so that I can open my other pack.

Now that I've figured out how to buy a pack, etc, and how much they cost, I cant even fathom out how people are buying hundreds of packs at a time - I clearly must not be doing something right - so I'll have to get reading and figure out how to work this game a lot better !
