Soul Strangler - A tank??? - Share your Battle

Please pay attention or he will drink your blood! The Soul Strangler is the star of this weeks 'Share your Battle' on @Splinterlands.

This week we'll be focussing on the Soul Strangler, which is a Chaos Legion monster from the Death splinter.

Pro: Low mana, high damage.
Can easily be used in almost every line-up because of the low mana. Most useful in the 20- mana battles, where he can be one of your main sources of damage.

Con: Low HP.
Very vulnerable to sneak, snipe and especially opportunity.

Rulesets:
I like to use this card in the following rulesets:

  1. Equalizer, which immediately fixes the low HP problem
  2. Back to basics, you can just put him in the back where it can't be attacked.
  3. Fog of war + low mana, this eliminates the sneak and snipe threat to make it last longer.
  4. Armored up or Holy protection, the extra shield really helps the survivability. And with low mana, one attack of the Soul Strangler is enough the take down the armor of your opponent.

The Battle!
I entered a 24 mana ruleset. The allowed splinters were Fire, Death and Dragon and the Holy protection ruleset was in place. My line-up was the following:

First choice is the summoner. I went for Drake of Arnak, because it works very well with the Holy protection ruleset. Every monster gets a shield, so you will need to hit them a minimum of 3 times before they go down. With 6 monsters on the board, thats 18 hits. This buys me time to kill the opponent.

As a main tank, I went for Cursed windeku. Lots op HP and thorns, so the opponent will lose their divine shield when the attack him.

My main damage dealers are the 2 guys in the back, Dhampir Stalker and Soul Strangler. Together they deliver 5 damage each round.

That left me with only 4 mana. Since I wanted to use all 6 slots, I went for 2-2-0 mana monsters. The weirding warrior to shatter a monster with lots of shields (which my opponent had), the naga because of the 5 speed so hopefully the could dodge once or twice and my 0-mana fiend.

Conclusion
The strategy worked, especially the plan with the weirding warrior turned out perfect. Perhaps Harklaw would have been a better tank, but he also has a higher mana cost.

Soul Strangler usually doesn't stand out, the eyecatchers in this battle were Dhampir Stalker and Weirding warrior, but it did a lot of damage and even got out of character at the end where it took 3 hits without dying. I like the card and use it a lot, but it will never be the card I build my team around.

Hello @lovesniper, thanks for your kind words. I'll write an introduction post later, thanks for the tip!

Is there any way to move this post to the splinterlands community or do recommend I'll repost it over there?
