Splinterlands Harvest of Heroes — A Thanksgiving Tribute!

Greetings to all Splinterlands players and Midnight Letters community! This is my entry to this week's Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge. The topic is about thanksgiving - What I'm most grateful for this year.

Grateful for My New Guild

My old guild suddenly went inactive and stopped playing brawls. Brawls is a guild activity to play games against other guilds earn reward like SPS and gladiator cards. It's a good way to have more use for our cards by playing more games and earning rewards.

What Do We Get From Guilds?

Guilds provide many benefits to members.

Buildings

The buildings of the guild give multipliers to glints and SPS that are earned in every win. Being part of a guild entitles the member to this benefit given by guild buildings. The buildings are upgraded by members DEC contributions but some guilds don't require them.

Brawls

The number one reason to join guilds apart from buildings are brawls. Brawls is a weekly event like a tournament where the guild face of against other guilds and earn reward based on their rankings. The rewards are SPS and gladiator cards that members can buy from the guild shop.

Community

The guild help their members by sharing strategies. Other guilds have group pack purchases to take advantage of volume discounts when buying packs. Others lend cards to their members to help them advance.

How Can I Help My Guild?

Contribute

Contribute DEC and fight games daily to contribute Focus. Both are needed to upgrade the guild buildings.

Brawls

Show up in brawls and do not abandon the games. Have cards that are appropriate for the games you join in. Do not just join brawls, when you join, you have to have winning chances.

Help Other Members

Help other members by sharing strategies. You may also choose to delegate cards you don't need.

Our Next Brawl

My second brawl with my new guild has started. Before I place my teams I made preparations to increase my chances of winning. Fray 1 uses Foundation sets. Players use the same cards and those who have upgraded cards have a big advantage. I bought some more cards to upgrade my water team to help me achieve victory. It's like playing a chess game but my pieces are stronger than my opponent's.

Upgraded My Water Archon to 3

Water is my strongest element. To get an advantage, I bought and upgraded my archon to 3. The archon's level has an influence on the level of cards we play. The higher the archon, the higher the maximum level of cards will be allowed. Having a high level archon is not enough. I also need to upgrade my units.

Upgraded My Great Bear Druid to 2

Great Bear Druid is needed when you play Water. It has two attacks of melee and magic and can be ideal in the front position. Upgrading it to two adds another melee attack and speed. It's a good advantage against level one Great Bear Druids.

Sample Game

A sample game from my daily grind in the Frontier. My opponent and I had the same cards in the game. My advantage of having a higher level archon is clear. I have a level 2 Great Bear Druid who has more attack and speed. I also have a level 2 Saltwater Mage who has additional life stats. Overall my team has higher attack, speed and health.

In the first round, the game was still equal. As the fight goes on, the advantage of my units started to show and the opponent gets overpowered. Having the higher level units may look unfair but I wanted to get more chances of winning and that can be achieved by upgrades.
