Grandmaster Rathe - Ideas and Insight for Silver League

Hello Splinterlands Community!

Since the first Chaos Legion Legendary Summoner Airdrop has been revealed, let's take a quick look on the information of this summoner, the skills it can provide, which cards will benefit the most, and the possible lineup for Silver League.

This Legendary summoner is under life element and it's name is Grandmaster Rathe. The lore can be found in this post.

Rathe is the first summoner in life element that can be to defend META magic summoners such as Water Summoners Alric Stormbringer and Valnamor, Earth summoner Obsidian and Dragon summoner Delwyn Dragonscale.

Sidenote: I am not a Leaderboard player but an average player who owned some card but still do rentals. All information below are based on my opinion and playstyle. Each player has its own opinion regarding these cards and I'm just going to share my opinion.

🪄 The Status Effect

Grandmaster Rathe provides a +1 to armor in which Tyrus Palladium from the Alpha/Beta edition can provide, a Void Armor which is as far as I know the very first summoner to provide this buffs, and the amplify damage.

In my opinion the best ability of the Grandmaster Rathe and would make a big difference is the Void Armor. The additional armor is a bonus and the least important I think is the amplify damage but still helpful in some cases as we have Dax Paragon which can provide amplify as well.

🪄 Cards that will benefit the most

Card	Benefit
Shieldbearer	Shieldbearer with the taunt ability will really be one of the best tank once summoned by Grandmaster Rathe. Shieldbearer can absorb magic damage by using his armor. In higher league, Shieldbearer is too strong for all types of attack. Void Armor against magic attack, shield against melee attack and return fire with amplify buff against range attack. Compatibility: ★★★★★
Blinding Reflector	Blinding Reflector with the reflect ability at ★5 can benefit on those three abilities of Grandmaster Rathe. It can fully utilize the armor to reflect magic damage with the amplify effect. Compatibility: ★★★★ ★
Chaos Knight	Grandmaster Rathe can fill the weakness against magic of Chaos Knight when serving as a tank. With the help of Grandmaster Rathe, Chaos Knight can further survive in the battle against magic opponents especially a face to face battle against Llama+Kron. Compatibility:★★★★
Uriel the Purifier	Uriel the Purifier can further survive in the battle using his armor againsts magic attack which then can get enough time to land the charge attack that deals a 9 melee damage. Just make sure it hits the health directly. Compatibility: ★★★
Lone Boatman Adelade Brightwing Scavo Hireling	Although Loneboatman, Adelade Brightwing and Scavo Hireling does not directly benefit with Grandmaster Rathe, these 3 monster cards offers a repair ability which can be a great support to repair an armor repelling magic attack. Compatibility: ★★★

🪄 Line-up with Rathe

Against Llama+Kron

Mana Cost: 17

This configuration can battle against Llama+Kron combination with Chaos Knight dealing a double damage to Kron while Scavo is repairing armor taken by Chaos Knight from Kron. Celestial Harpy provides additional damage.

Tanking the Magic Damage

Mana Cost: 42
Ruleset: Fog of War

Shieldbearer will cast a taunt absorbing the Magic damage. He is supported by Adelade Brightwing and Lone Boatman in repairing the armor. Luminous Eagle with the reach deals great damage to the front defender while Cave Slug will pick the weakest enemy. Portal Spinner will randomly attacks a target.

Little League against Magic User

Mana Cost: 27

Blinding Reflector with the help of amplify of Grandmaster Rathe could provide a great magic reflect damage while Scavo Hireling will continuously repair the damage armor of Blinding Reflector. Stitch Leech will do the sneak attack while Time Mage and Venari Crystalsmith will provide a good damage and support by slowing down enemies and providing healing to Blinding Reflector respectively. Peacebringer offers a great range damage and will try to hold the backline.

🪄 Final Thoughts

Grandmaster Rathe seems to offer a good benefits to powerup the life element. It may be not a very powerful summoner but it will really lift up the Life element battling against magic users. A new summoner will offer a new strategy.
