Small DUO! The Ant and Monkey Connection.

Hello Splinterlands Community!

I am posting again to share one of my favorite DUO that I usually use in the Silver League whenever I have the chance to use it based on the ruleset. These 2 monsters combination is great which is very nice to use in certain situation.

This strategy is a combination of two common monsters which are Antoid Platoon from the Chaos Legion Edition and Flame Monkey from the reward under Untamed Edition.

Take note that this strategy is focus on the Modern Format and can be use in Silver League.

🛡 The Strategy

#1 Card Information

Antoid Platoon with a shield ability could reduce physical damage while Flame Monkey could be able to repair the armor in each round. These two cards could only cost a total of 9 including a Tarsa summoner to boost the damage.

These two combo are great in low mana matchup especially for the 12 mana cap. It can survive a strong opponent as long as it is a melee. It can also survive Mylor's destructible thorn damage.

Take note that this is only available starting silver league as the Flame Monkey's repair will only unlock once it reaches the ★5.

Below are some opponent's line-up that can be defeated by this strategy:

You might wonder how the DUO will defeat a Living Lava and a Flame Monkey with repair? Should the Living Lava will win as it will hit the fatigue round and Living Lava have higher health than Antoid Platoon?

Since the Living Lava, Tarsa and Flame Monkey cost a 12 mana while Tarsa, Antoid Platoon, Flame Monkey cost only 9 mana, a 3 mana is still available which can be use by Serpentine Spy or Uraeus. The Serpentine Spy or Uraeus could easily kill the Flame Monkey to stop repairing the armor of Living Lava.

Keep Your Distance	Noxious Fumes	Odd Ones Out	Unprotected

Basically these ruleset will probihit the strategy of Antoid Platoon and Flame Monkey as it might disable the abilities or the Flame Monkey will be killed first.

#3 Weakness

The main weakness of this strategy is against magic as magic bypasses the armor. Some abilities such as blast and opportunity can also defeat this strategy as once Flame Monkey is killed early, then there is no more repair. A high damaging monster with the piercing ability could also defeat this line-up.

Another thing is for the ruleset with super sneak or melee mayhem, Flame Monkey is vulnerable in thorn damage as it will also attack which may lead to failure on this strategy.

Low Mana

Mana Cost: 12
Ruleset: Aim True

In this scenario, even the Xenith Monk did the last stand with Llama, it will not be able to penetrate the armor defense of Antoid Platoon as the armor keeps on repaired by Flame Monkey.

Against Mylor's Destructive Thorns

Mana Cost: 23
Ruleset: Equalizer, Up Close & Personal

In this battle, it is very obvious that the Mylor Summoner is only a ★1 which limits the monsters to be a ★1 also. The main thing that can be highlighted in this battle is how the Antoid Platoon survives a lot of thorn damage and attack because of the Shield and Repair being done by Antoid Platoon and Flame Monkey.

🛡 Final Thoughts

The Shield and Repair strategy often seen in Life Splinter as there are monster that have taunt and repair. In Fire element especially with a low mana match, the Antoid Platoon and Flame Monkey combo is a good way to properly defend the frontline as long as there will be no magic unless there is a weak magic ruleset.
This strategy could also survive thorn damage as the thorn damage is considered a physical attack which is reduce by the shield ability. In every shield damaged, a repair is on the way.
