Hello Splinterlands Community!

Welcome to another Share your Battle Weekly Challenge featuring the Diemonshark (die-mon-shark) which is the fearsome beast that eventually been use by the Chaos Legion as a transport of the equipment no matter it is via land air or sea.

For those who are new to my post, I usually post information which is related in the Silver League Modern Format.

Diemonsharks travel alone throughout the stars searching for prey and territory. They are fearsome beasts with lightning-fast reflexes. Diemonsharks are extremely territorial and attack any creature that encroaches on their land. The Chaos Legion trains them as transports for equipment. Since they can travel by air, ground, or sea, they are ideally suited for the task.

🐉 The Stats

I might be a little bias over this card as this is really my favorite one.

  • Diemonshark is a very strong monster in the water element. I consider this card as a substitute to Sea Monster in the modern format.
  • First thing that I would emphasis for this card is its stats. The high speed, armor and health are the major stats that I love on this monster which is a pretty decent stats. I am not saying that its melee attack is weak but it is just normal given that this card have a very useful ability.
  • A ★4 Diemonshark introduce the enrage ability which is available start in Silver League. The enrage further increase the melee and speed stats into a 1.5 multiplier. A ★4 enraged Diemonshark attack is a 5 melee damage and a 6 speed. This is without any buffs yet from the summoner or other monsters.
  • In Diamond and Champion league, the retalliate ability has been introduce which is pretty strong given that this card could do a counter attack.
  • Finally, the trample ability which is available in the baseline level is basically made this monster powerful. Imagine having a high attack then this guy do the trample in a stampede ruleset, this monster could defeat all the opponent at an instant.

Combo Cards

Diemonshark can be best paired with Kelya Frendul and Aquatus in the current line-up of Water summoners. Possibilus information has not been revealed yet so we can't consider how this new summoner performance with Diemonshark. In Dragon element, Byzantine Kitty due to the +2 speed is the best one to use with.

Since Lux Vega's stats has been announce and this is an upgraded Kelya, I think Diemonshark is very compatible on this as well.

Kelya Frendul
The additional speed and armor Kelya Frendul could offer gives Diemonshark a greater boost in the defensive position. An additional speed gives the opponent a chance to miss Diemonshark and additional armor gives protection against physical attack and earthquake.
Aquatus
Aquatus with the backfire ability is great with the speed monsters. Since Diemonshark speed is pretty good and together with additional speed buff from other monsters and enrage, I think Aquatus is a good pair in order for those misses attack towards Diemonshark will result fo a backfire damage.

In terms of monsters, I will emphasis some monsters that could greatly enhance Diemonshark and some monsters that don't have direct impact but a good to pair with Diemonshark.

I am fond to use Diemonshark and if I am not mistaken, as long as I choose water, estimated 70~80% chance that I will be using this card as long as the ruleset permits.

River Hellondale
River Hellondale with the inspire ability could enhance the melee damage of Diemonshark enhancing the monster to become deadlier in the matchup. The ressurect which is also a great ability is useful as well since Diemonshark is mostly present in the frontline receiving most of the damage. It is much useful if the ruleset is weak magic as Diemonshark once ressurected, the armor is back to 100%.
Flying Squid
In Silver League, Flying Squid reach ability helps Diemonshark defeating the frontline enemies and acting as the secondary line of defense in-case Diemonshark has been defeated. Starting from Gold League, the blind ability which reduce the chance the opponent hit the target could help further Diemonshark avoid physical attack surviving the battle longer and annihilating enemies towards the frontline.
Merdaali Guardian
I have included Merdaali Guardian in the list even though the healing also removes the enrage status. The reason is the repair ability which is available starting from the Gold League. This repair is pretty great especially Fog of War or Weak Magic as Diemonshark could deal great damage with the heal and repair support behind it.
River Nymph
River Nymph cleanse ability is very useful in lower league if you don't have Kelp Initiate which cure Diemonshark poison in the noxious fumes ruleset. In higher league, River Nymph provides additional speed boost.
Supply Runner
Supply Runner swiftness ability in some cases gives an advantage especially if there are two Diemonshark in the battlefield. Usually the higher speed gives a great advantage and win the battle. The additional speed from Supply Runner is very important. Speed is King.
Scavo Hireling
Well, in lower league since Merdaali Guardian does not have the repair ability, Scavo Hireling is a good option to have this in order to repair Diemonshark armor.
Tide Biter
Tide Biter with the reach ability and reflection shield ability is best to use with Diemonshark if dealing with explosive weaponry ruleset or facing against Yodin Zaku. With the reach ability, Tide Biter provides a good support to Diemonshark at the same time stopping the blast damage to protect the backline.
Venari Wavesmith
Venari Wavesmith on the otherhand, provides additional armor. If the silenced summoners ruleset is in-place, then no armor from Kelya and Venari Wavesmith armor protection can be a good alternative.

Favorable Ruleset

There are quite a lot of ruleset that is in favor with Diemonshark, as mentioned this card is pretty good and very usable.

Without Brighton Bloom or other monsters that have flying ability, Diemonshark because of its high armor could withstand the earthquake and deals a good amount of damage overtime. It can survive the earthquake longer.

Diemonshark speed combined with the enrage and trample ability is best when there is a blast effect. An attack each round from Diemonshark could devastate the opponent's defense.

Diemonshark without any epic or legendary monsters is too powerful and it is on the top when dealing with common and rare monsters. The stats it have is way above the average stat of other monsters.

Diemonshark with the trample ability could trigger a continuous attack especially if the opponents lineup does not have any armor and the health is not that high. In a succession attack, Diemonshark can eliminate all the enemies. I experienced having this in a low mana matchup.

Diemonshark with a high armor then choosing it in the unprotected ruleset? My answer is yes, I will still choose Diemonshark in this ruleset because I will rely on Diemonshark enrage and speed for this. Imagine doing a trample towards unprotected enemies, it is a pretty nice attack.

With the weak magic ruleset, Diemonshark main weakness is somehow eliminated as the armor it have now acts as a Void armor. I won't have an issue in choosing whether I will use Diemonshark or Legionnaire Alvar in the frontline worrying for magic units.

To be honest, when the Spreading Fury is available, I usually use water element due to the fact that there are a lot of water monster that have a high speed.

Kelya Frendul
Kelya Frendul gives a boost in speed and provides additional armor protection. It is a good to have when dealing with physical attack and when enrage the speed is further enhance.

Diemonshark with the enrage ability seems not a good option if looking into the ruleset but since Diemonshark is a power beast, it can both provide a proper offense and defense against powerful monsters.

Tide Biter
I did not expect a Yodin Zaku in this match-up but since the mana capacity is only 42 and given that I only have 3 remaining mana left, instead of choosing Flying Squid, I choose Tide Biter and got lucky.

Tide Biter provides a great support with Diemonshark as this monster absorbs blast damage.

Djinn Oshannus
I am expecting something a magic damage which is why I choose Djinn Oshannus in the 3rd place as a tank once Diemonshark and Tide Biter is defeated as Diemonshark is weak against magic. With Djinn Oshannus enrage, a lot of magic attack can be avoided.

Deeplurker
Deeplurker with the opportunity ability enhance by River Hellondale attack, Kelya's speed and Supply Runner speed attack becomes deadlier killing and picking low health enemies in the backline while Diemonshark is busy penetrating the frontline.
Backrow 4
River Hellondale
River Hellondale as mentioned is very good support card that provides additional melee damage which affects Diemonshark, Tide Biter and Deeplurker in this matchup. The resurrect ability is supposedly for Diemonshark which should be expected to be defeated first.
Backrow 5
Supply Runner
As the speed is the key to the victory in the enrage ruleset, Supply Runner giving additional speed to all monsters could greatly and further boost the speed of each monsters once enraged.

Round 1

My opponent choose a Yodin Zaku and a bunch of range attack with a high speed which is much more focus on the offensive side while I focus mainly on the speed and a little bit of defense in the frontline.

Looking at my opponent's lineup, Magnor with the taunt ability is at the frontline facing my Diemonshark, followed by Serpentine Sky and Countess Sinash that both have the opportunity attack targeting Tide Biter. Then Ferexia General and Lava Spider with the snipe ability attacking Djinn Oshannus while a supply runner that boost their defense. Overall the line-up focus on the offensive side fully utilizing Yodin Zaku's blast ability to trigger a blast effect from left and right.

The good thing is that Kelya's armor protection gives a good advantage in the early round and with the help of Tide Biter's reflection shield, some blast damage will be nullify.

The Battle has begun!

In the 1st round, since Magnor have the taunt ability, all water units will attack Magnor. Djinn Oshannus with the highest speed will attack first Magnor but then after attacking Magnor, the enrage ability will be triggered surpassing the speed of all water unit thus attacking next which can destroy Diemonshark's armor in a single hit. Magnor could be defeated in this round given that all water unit attack will be towards him. Tide Biter, Djinn Oshannus and Deeplurker are in danger and could be defeated with the attack from Serpentine Spy, Countess Sinash via opportunity attack and Ferexia General and Lava Spider snipe attack.

The resurrect has been use to Tide Biter and Djinn Oshannus is heavily damaged.

In the 2nd round, Djinn Oshannus will eliminate Serpentine Spy even though they have the same speed, a magic unit always attacks first over the melee unit which saves Diemonshark in the brink of death.

Then a succeeding attack from Tide Biter followed by Diemonshark and Deeplurker could seal the deal. The succession of the attack of these monsters even though they have the same speed and all are melee monsters are based on the rarity. (Epic > Rare > Common).

Diemonshark attack will trigger a Trample defeating 2 enemies in a single round.

Diemonshark defeated Ferexia General and Lava Spider by triggering its trample ability followed by attack from Deeplurker killing Supply Runner in a single hit which sealed the victory in Round 3.

🐉 Final Thoughts

AS I have mentioned, I am a little bit of bias with Diemonshark as it is my favorite card currently in the Chaos Legion because of it's powerful set of abilities, its above average stats and a very useful in a lot of cases.

It was the substitute to the Sea Monsters with a little different abilities but both dominating the frontline.

Overall I am very happy and very satisfied with Diemonshark performance especially in the league that I am playing.
